Hi Peter, Working on it. It is NOT the reading of the FIFO itself (I eliminated that now). Breaking down the frequency counter PIO program to nail the issue. Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

That's the sort of bug I like ![]() Have you tried the code with symbols on and off and with compilation on? If there is a difference there it would be good to know Edited 2026-10-20 18:16 by matherp |

Hi Peter, SYMBOLS ON is default. OPTION SYMBOLS OFF work as well OPTION COMPILE ON is not supported in 2040 (not command line, not in program). Volhout Edited 2026-10-20 19:05 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

V7.00.00RC3 is now available at https://github.com/UKTailwind/PicoMite/releases/tag/PicoMite-V7.00.00RC3 RC3 is RC2 with the reports of the last few days answered, all listed under Fixed since RC2. A program too big for the program memory, loaded without ,C, no longer leaves the board stopping at every prompt with "Program damaged: symbol table", and a board that RC2 left in that state recovers when RC3 is installed. A WebMite or a PicoMiteRP2350 with neither PSRAM nor a display can LOAD from the SD card again. On the PicoCalc's PicoMiteRP2350, PIXEL() and BLIT READ return the right colours. A DO loop in a recursive SUB or FUNCTION, ON ERROR SKIP around a FUNCTION call, and the ON ERROR setting a program leaves behind at the prompt all behave. PRINT counts a comma's tab as a terminal does and keeps a file's column apart from the console's. On the USB host builds the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is supported, DEVICE(MOUSE n, B) reports every button, a DualShock 4's diagonals are right, an unplugged gamepad reads 0, and GAMEPAD MONITOR OFF ends the monitoring. The PicoMitePC3's WEB SCAN finds and measures networks as a WebMite does, Bluetooth or not. EDIT no longer shows an empty line after a file's last line, keeps a paste and keys typed during a redraw, lets Esc discard changes with a line over 255 characters, and keeps its line count after Beautify. On the Bluetooth builds GUI CURSOR LINK MOUSE takes a Bluetooth mouse or a Bluetooth keyboard's trackpad. The Print Screen key saves the display as a BMP, at the prompt, in the editor and in the file manager. A save, import or export that the editor cannot make no longer loses the edits, and its search brings a match past the right edge into view. MATH FFT is about 20% faster. The PicoMiteRP2040MIN leaves out MATH SENSORFUSION, to make room. The supplementary manuals' tables are mended. Edited 2026-10-20 20:04 by matherp |

Hello Peter! congrats again! I will update to RC3. Have you checked TLS client error -14 I have reported earlier in a post? G@bor |

Tested and works perfectly for me. possible cause of -14 are: the port, a stale DNS answer, the server being down at the time, or a firewall or ISP. |

@Peter, 2040VGA PS2 keyboard does not save screenshot with PRINTSCREEN button. Not with <left shift>,<right shift>, not with <right control>,<left control>, without other keys, not with <ALT>, not at all. Tested 2 different keyboards (small LAPTOP SIZE, and large FULL SIZE). Where should the images be saved? I can’t take any screenshots on the PC3 either. Matthias |

Just as an observation, the results I get with WEB SCAN on the PC3 are completely different! Sometimes it only shows my network, then up to seven, but not all of them from the local area, and then only three are listed. It’s really random! Matthias |

I'll add print screen for ps2 keyboards. Matthias. It only works from a directly connected USB keyboard. They go in the root of a drive: B:/ (the SD card) if an SD card is configured with OPTION SDCARD; A:/ otherwise. The name is SCREENnnn.BMP with the first unused number, starting at SCREEN000.BMP and going up to SCREEN999.BMP (misc/FileIO.c:8579). Each press writes the whole screen with SAVE IMAGE. Print Screen deliberately prints nothing, so these cases fail silently: An SD card is configured but missing or unreadable. The image is not written to A: instead. All 1,000 names are taken. No display is configured. |

IMHO it was getting better with RC3 though. Now the RSSI values are more consistent, no zero values anymore, and the number of networks reported, at least here, has gone up a bit. I think it's now comparable to what WebMite reports even though it may not be identical. I consider it as usable now. 73 de OE1HGA, Gerald |

@Peter, I tested V7.00.00rc3 on Pico VGA PS2, and see no problems. Covered the major games, and applications. rc3 performs beautiful. The speed gain versus the V6 is improving game experience. Especially games like "Rocks" (full of multi-coordinate line draws) are much more joy to play. About PRINT SCREEN. This is a very handy tool to have. I have very often strategically edited a program to include this function (to document, or to analyze). Therefor I ask if it is possible in any way to add this feature through console. Maybe not the print screen button (if it is not transferred through the VT100 set) but then through <ctrl>-G (the BELL character) or any alternative. In some cases it would still require program adaptation (what is the active frambuffer at time of activation) Thank you in advance, Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

The number is the standard Bluetooth status code (ERROR_CODE_AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE in btstack). The connection itself got through, but the security step that follows it failed. It isn't a range problem: that would be 0x04, page timeout. There are three usual causes: The two sides disagree about the pairing. One side still holds the old stored key and the other doesn't. This happens when: the device was reset or paired with something else and forgot the board; the board lost its pairings while the device kept its key. Any upgrade that resets the options does this, such as the PicoMiteRP2350BTH coming from RC1. Wrong PIN for a device that pairs the older way. Without a PIN the board answers 0000, and a device expecting 1234 rejects it. The device isn't in pairing mode, so it refuses a fresh pairing. Check the speaker manual and try adding the correct pin to the connect command. See the manual for syntax Thanks Peter! bluetooth connect "BT-WE" "1234" worked with the speaker. Frank |

If not used elsewhere, maybe CTRL-P for print. John |

Hi Peter, This is a repeatable problem on my PC2 running MM.VER=7.000053 C: is a 32G USB flash c: (which took about 5-10 secs - timed later - actually 14 secs)chdir DOS_MMBasic chdir PicoMite-V7_RC3 copy "help.txt" to "A:/" > a: screen cleared then up came the beginning of attempt to perform 'files'..> files 'showed help.txt being around 173k 'next try it was 218112 bytes [file should be 598559 bytes] > C: > files C:/DOS_MMBasic/PicoMite-V7_RC3 E [USB DATA_SEQ 2 @481] rror : A hard error occurred in the low-level disk I/O layer > A delay about 10 secs between the first line and the subsequent lines in the above code snippet Summary: 'files' command crashes. (SEQ number increments on each subsequent failure) There seem to be no lasting corruption on A: and C: which is comforting. But the file only partially copies to A: drive Regards Phil PS actually it randomly generates above error when typing 'files' when on C: drive. Only once it generated a partial list of about 7 files (but showed no errors and got the > prompt) , subsequently correctly listed all files(1 directory, 24 files). Copying help.txt from C: to B: also generated error [USB DATA_SEQ 209 @481] BUT 'files' correctly shows B:help.txt as being 598559 bytes Regards Phil PPS: But LIST that same help.txt on the B: drive only goes as far as the "FRAME" command..so it looks to have been incompletely copied. I'll try and shut up now :) PPPS: other than to include my OPTION LIST (almost same as previous) > option list PicoMiteHDMI MMBasic USB RP2350B Edition V7.00.00RC3 OPTION SERIAL CONSOLE COM2,GP8,GP9 OPTION SYSTEM I2C GP20,GP21 OPTION FLASH SIZE 16777216 OPTION COLOURCODE ON OPTION KEYBOARD US, 0, 1, 300, 50 OPTION PICO OFF OPTION RESOLUTION 1024x600 @ 252000KHz OPTION DISPLAY 50, 128 OPTION HDMI PINS 1, 3, 5, 7 OPTION SDCARD GP29, GP30, GP31, GP32 OPTION KEYBOARD REPEAT 300,50 OPTION AUDIO I2S GP10,GP22', ON PWM CHANNEL 11 OPTION RTC AUTO ENABLE OPTION COUNT GP0,GP1,GP2,GP3 OPTION PLATFORM HDMIUSBI2S OPTION PSRAM PIN GP47 OPTION HEARTBEAT PIN GP25 Regards Phil Edited 2026-10-22 14:44 by flip |
