Unless there have been major changes, oscillator crystals are actual quartz crystals (silicon dioxide). The perfect regularity of its lattice is what gives it the frequency stability. Crystal glass is completely different. The lead gives it a high refractive index that makes it look like crystal but it is still just glass. Amorphous with no crystal structure at all. |
