Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Mixtel90 said  Monitor sound is often rubbish anyway. I never use it on mine and the speakers are much bigger than they'd be in that monitor. It's up to you :)

yeah, usually but better than no sound. advert says sound. rpi hdmi if it works and getting sound is an adaptor with sound out.. yawn. vga sound is as you say up to me.
seems lots of work gone into sound. wav, flak so sound is important.
The 7" vga monitor will mean I start using mmbasic vga not lcd non vga.
and I don't use a key board with mmb lcd so why with mmb vga? all coding on win mmmedit.
no more this, do it all on vga 7"

got to make a more permanent vga board

VGA doesn't support sound at all, so you'll always need an audio lead from any PicoMite or CMM2. That could feed some VGA-HDMI converters (into poor speakers), but not all. The alternatives are an audio input on the monitor (with poor speakers) or a nice little pair of USB powered desktop speakers (recommended). Even cheapos like these for a tenner aren't all that bad.

Even a 42" tv will have poor sound hence soundbars :)
I use a pc speakers and sub into the head phone socket on my tv, people ask why it sounds like in a cinema. The tv has spdif socket to converter that gets power from tv usb socket and phono stereo out to a sansui super feed forward "hi-fi" amp and 2 wharfdale diamond IV..great bass for size, speakers.
My 2 desktop pcs the same, 2 small speakers and a sub.
If I used the mini 7" monitor with hdmi and rapspberry pi I found a pass through adaptor with phono and spdif out. I didn't realise I had so many adaptors, hdmi to vga, hdmi to composite.
