Thanks Bob, I can be an annoying pain when I have to be. Here are a few photos of the cooked part in the invertor. It is in the high side. I am not sure what it is or does but I am sure you guys will. It is rated at 250 volt 7.5 amp.

Yeah thats a fuse. Circuit board mounted type, not meant to be replaced, only there as a precaution against the thing catching on fire when there is something seriously wrong.

Take that fuse off the board, run two 1mm
wires to a panel mount fuse holder (3AG or M205)
and put a 3.15 amp ceramic fuse in it. If that fuse
on the board failed, it would need to have passed
a couple of thousand watts, if your supply is 240v,
so if the fuse wasn't faulty or incorrectly marked
chances are another fault is lurking.

Thanks Guys for the feed back. I have been in contact with the seller and they are going to send me another PCB. They do want me to send the old one back so thay can find out what went wrong. I think they will just put the blown PCB it in a new one and send it out again after replacing the fuse.

They did offer parts so I could fix this one and I asked for a new one as this went for about 4 min before smoke and POP.
They then said they were only a freight company and they did not have any in stock.
I said I would take it up with Pay$#@ and flebay if they did not send another one. They thay managed to find one out the back and it is being sent.( I think)

Is there anything that I should do to this before I try the next one.( Beside pay more money for a good one )

Yes, put a lower current fuse inline with active (brown) wire. Check
that all semiconductors are pulled tight onto the heatsinks, and I'd
recommend putting a great big capacitor across the input terminals
(dc side) a minimum of 10000uF 35volt or higher, bob used 120000uF
on his, I'd suggest Jaycar or altronics to source them, and they are
polarized, so + to red and - to black. They'd also have the fuse and
panel holder you need. Go with 3.15 amp ceramic or sand filled type.

If you paid with paypal you can get a claim as I have had several refunds on faulty and not to spec products.

Hi All.
I got the second invertor today in the post and it is faulty also. I conected the AC side first and then conected 24 volt and all I can get is the RED LED fault light to work. This is the second faulty invertor I have been sent and would not recomend them at all.

Check your power lead AC for continuity as several of mine where faulty.

Yep tested all OK I even tryed the one off my new solder station and it still no good. I have even tested the mounted fuse and it tests ok too?

The invertor was conected to the batteys and they were on 25.7 volt..

I have just got an Email from them saying my 250 watt wind turbine is to big for a 14-28 volt 600 watt invertor. When I went to school 250 was smaller then 600.

I asked the company's engineers. 24v batteries connected, test it sets 600w grid tie inverter. your machine is too high no-load 250w 24v.

Hi Andrew

Mine works off the batteries OK it draws just over 18 amps at 27 volts and cuts out over 30 volts, yours may have a lower setting so try it on 12 volts and see if it fires up, mine fires up at 15 volts DC.

Normally when the red led is on it means that there isn't AC getting to the unit, could be faulty ac fuse or in line component, sorry I don't have a circuit to offer more help.
Gordon has looked into the input of his fairly extensively, so may be a PM to him, or Alsidair has also done some troubleshooting with his also.

Another possibility is that they have sent you a 24 to 58 volt unit and these wont work on 24 volts, but the red light does go out but nothing happens, you could try it direct across the solar panel as it will go to 36 volt + and see if that works it.

I wish these guys would supply a circuit for servicing and not come back with some Chinese English gobbledygook as in the reply to you.

When mine die I put them in the spares department to look at lateron.

HI ALL
I will never buy another thing from China again....... All that they make is crap.

The little pr*ck that i HAVE BEEN SENDING EMAILS TOO FOR THE PAST MONTH IN REGARDS TO THIS BIT OF CRAP CALLED A GRID TIE INVERTOR, WANTS ME TO PAY $150 TO SEND THE PCB'S BACK TO THEM BEFORE I GET MY MONEY BACK FOR THE FAULTY INVERORS THEY SENT.
THE INVEROR COST ME 149.98 SO THE WANT ME TO PAY 150 TO GET 149 BACK???

SEE THEM IN PAYPAL COURT

DO NOT BUY A 600 WATT POW**JACK INVERTOR THEY ARE CRAP..

I have put in a clame but it is now going to cost me $48.80 to send it back.. So I will be around 50 out of pocket for what.. It is so hard to understand the email thay send and they say to only send the PCB back but if I do that I reneg on the PAYP#L conditions. What to do I may just send them a message to ask for a repair kit and wiring diagram and give it a go my self..

Bob, I would like to PM Gordon but his account is closed. If you read what Glen put up in site news it sort of said why this happend.

I for one will miss Gordons post and the input he had on topics. He put alot of time into some of his and others projects. Sometimes his input was taken the wrong way by some people, and I was one of them until I got to know him and what he was like. I think that his input will be missed alot on THEBACKSHED.

I would like to see him back in again but like Glenn said he owns the Pub..


Sorry Bob if it is off topic but where should I have put it..

Gordon If you still come on and have a look some of us are sad to see what has happend..

I am sorry to hear that these powerjack inverters
are giving you so much grief Andrew. One thing to
check if possible, when you ordered the inverter, did you
specify 240volt mains? I did this with mine, and before
plugging them in, I opened both units up, and noticed that
someone had handwritten '220v' on the pcb, and a dodgy
looking link had been installed and a few parts were missing from
the mains end of the board. I don't know if your 600 model
would be the same, but I think they have only engineered
(optimistic word) two versions 110 and 220 volt, the 220
version stretches to 240 (250 in my case) and I doubt Jack
chang would know that Australia isn't a state of USA and we
use 230/240 volt stuff, without telling them it may be luck for them to
get it right.

I think you may be right. It does say 220 volt on the case but on the speck sheet it will do up to 250 but.. I think I am going to save up and get a good grid tie and give the china made C#$P the flick. The old saying you get what you pay for...(sometimes)..

Sounds like a good idea, but you'll probably
still be buying Chinese, just built to a higher
spec. I've seen some companies advertising 2kw
gti's with 8 x 85watt panels for $3.4k, including
installation. With 680watts of solar it leaves about
1300 watts of extra capacity. The panels alone
are worth $2640 (@$330 each) so it works out
pretty cheap for a 2kw gti including installation
of panels and wiring. Just a big outlay initially, but
you do get warranty and compliant equipment. Just
don't sell power back into grid at a higher than
normal price, cos the price they charge per kw will
also rise, making it permanently more expensive per
bill, unless you always put more in than you use.
I have a friend with a 5 kw system who just breaks
even in summer, but in winter his electric bill is
higher than it was pre solar! The benefit is lost with
the higher tarrif.

The government is a corrupt organisation promoting their minions that they sold the marketing rights for electricity, these will attack you like a school of piranhas at every opportunity.

The only way is to work for independence with no reliance on government services.

the satisfaction of doing it yourself, your own way and on your own

Geez Amack
i was literally about to part with some hard earned as I bought a camping panel
and seems like a waste to use it for days a year vs 365 days.

I was going to plug in -after all should be good for 500 odd watts a day.
0.20c in FIT $$.
500 days to pay for itself....now if it lasts that long great, sounds like it wont.
