Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

There is a very playable Minecraft clone in Linux called "Minetest". Never tried it online, but me and my grandson spend hours and hours playing it. He plays the commercial version as well, and says that although it is visually different most game mechanics are the same. You can install it from the Ubuntu App Store.

I recently say Terasology, that appears to render more beautyfull, but never tried it.

Minetest uses the lua programming language so people are encouraged to develop for it. That's also why it's transportable across several platforms. I've just installed mods for bushy trees (which look really nice but take quite a bit of processing) and 16 colours of beds that you can bounce on. :) There are some silly ones, like the ability to nail bread to trees. That also supports the sandwiches  mod that allows you to make all sorts of sandwiches!

I did have a go at early Minetest and had FUN even with it being new.

The current version looks really good. I am playing on J&H Skyblock server
went back to mc version 1.8 Java back in 2021. Players voted and its what
they wanted. I'd voted to goto 1.16 or higher as newer villagers are more useful.

Most the time its a few players and myself. I have had over 1200 visitors to
my island.

I'll be there till it ends. I have the downloads of the early 5 skyblocks and
2nd season. They didn't post 3rd season my hope is they post this when it ends.

I have not used windows after ME ended I went to Linux. I did support XP for
a few stores and got good at fixing virus loaded systems. Why run as an admin ???

Having FUN my E-Trike rear axle froze and doing a rebuild.
