Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi All,

I ran both of them by using the file browser on GameMite.

Worked fine running from the SD card (select B: with the file browser)

Regards,

Mick

Found the problem! My ILI9341 is k.......d! Swapped it for my other one and things are fine.

That's bad news... I've had to use my only other one - the one off my backpack.

Thanks for checking, Geoff, Peter & Mick.

What a nuisance and what a strange failure mode.

The ES fragility of the ILI9341 has always been a bit of a concern for me for an uncased Game*Mite. In a belt and braces approach I put strips of insulation tape over the exposed contacts on the top of the display module (and have bought, but not yet used some enamel undercoat and red paint to do a "tidier" job). I have no idea if this helps or not, but I haven't zapped a screen on the Game*Mite yet ... though I've killed 1.5 of them otherwise.

Best wishes,

Tom

Strange stuff, this new-fangled eletrickery be. I doubt I'll ever get the hang of it.

Actually, that display has had problems for a long time. The touch system stopped working so it was relegated to a job that didn't need it. I've been able to get away with it on the Game*Mite until now. I've only ever had three of these - the first one arrived smashed!

Usually, while things are connected, the danger from static is reduced a lot as there are many external paths. The danger is when something is unplugged and is being plugged in again.

That is a weird fault, something to remember.
