Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

You used to have to erase the chip using HV programming mode to clear the flag (and the memory) so that it could be reprogrammed. I don't know if that applies to this particular chip. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

I forgot to mention that the PicKit 3 reported when I tried reading the Pic16F1455 - Warning: Debug bit is set on target image. This may not run correctly in production. |

i think you will also need to provide a power feed back into the 3v3 pad - as i recall i just used a couple of AA cells for this. hence the PicKit3 was set for 'externally powered target' in mplab. the reason for needing the 2x AA cells is that you are also having to power the MX170, and combined with the 1455 the current draw exceeds what the PicKit3 can provide. alternatively, you may be able to temporarily tie pin 1 of the MX170 to ground so it is held in reset while the 1455 is being accessed, but i never tried this. cheers, rob :-) |

Good point! PicKit3 is rubbish at providing power. John |

Hi Guys. Sorry about the delay. Silicon Chip sent me a replacement PIC1455 back in Sept last year and I finally got a moment to hack the old one out and replace with the new one. The Explorer28 burst into life. It appears it was an mis programmed Microbridge. Thanks to all for the reflections and expertise. Steve |
