Peter, While waiting for my board to arrive, have been reading through your book - congratulations on a fantastic body of work, can't wait to start trying all the examples/exercises. One thing I have noticed, my 78 year old eyes, even with reading glasses, struggle to discriminate between the seriff body text (Times?) and the sans seriff commands/functions/examples(Ariel?) Could the sans seriff commands/ functions etc be in a bolder font or perhaps even coloured font? Just a suggestion. Great job, Regards, Doug. ... almost all of the Maximites, the MicromMites, the MM Extremes, the ArmMites, the PicoMite and loving it! |

Where can we get this book everyone keeps talking about? I've searched the messages and can't find a link. |

There is no link. It is out to a few people for review. I'll publish more widely when I'm happy with it |

Honestly Panky I just loaded the firmware.uf on my PICO 3 and found it so easy to use the help system and I'm sure you will love it. Now to back to the start of the book and go thru the examples and at some stage today got do a few farm jobbies but it isn't looking good as this has me hook and sinker Regards Bryan |

Ok second day going thru the book and went back to the start to refresh and decided as I hadn't tried playing any MP.3's I used fm() to navigate to /sd/Music only to find this.... ![]() Did a reboot and still the same, now my Bacoben MP.3 collection in in /SD/Music and the V3 PICO MMBasic it just worked. Now navigating to the other folders on /sd they just open with no problems. Regards Bryan Edited 2026-07-20 10:02 by Bryan1 |

Ok when I did a reboot this morning got the message where a gamepad was on 3 when no game pad was inserted. So put a gamepad on and now got 2 assigned gamepads so took the gamepad off line and this error came up ![]() So getting closer to finding out why the Music folder won't open and trying to edit "pcaudio.py" was empty may need more reading where I thought this would of worked off the bat. So this morning tried sending files to the board via MCCC and both xsend and mpremote also failed, now I did ask google AI for a simple database so I can learn and both as a txt and py file resulted in no bytes transferred. So found copying from the book and pasting slowly into MCCC do show the code both on the terminal and the TV screen but trying to save keeps getting an error where the file won't save. ![]() In the end I took the SDCard and did the walk.... to get the file across then saw the copy/paste did appear to work but no joy. |

I don't have a Pico Computer3 and not likely to get one for the foreseeable future. I would be very surprised if MMCC was much use with micropython. MMCC doesn't know the commands needed to copy and save files. Without the hardware to test with, I can't see that changing. I strongly suggest you use TeraTerm instead. Sorry Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Well what I am finding I copied over the file in fm() from the SDCard and when I edit the file on the SDCard saving the file works yet trying to save the file in flash results in the MemoryError. Now I did update to the 0.10 version now as I did do a clear 2350.uf after I loaded the new firmware all the files I made were still there. Also teraterm is acting the same where mpremote and xsend refuse to work |

Have you got a PSRAM chip fitted AND working? Micropython for the PC3 won't run without one. Load MMbasic and check the PSRAM is seen |

Peter so is the psram U33 is the second IC down from 2350B chip? if so no JLCPCB didn't fit it along with the wifi chip. I still need to find the part numbers for them so I can buy some and fit them. Edited 2026-07-22 17:20 by Bryan1 |

APS6404L-3SQR-SN - lots available on mouser etc. I'm amazed Micropython even starts without that fitted Edited 2026-07-22 17:22 by matherp |

Ok I found the part number for the wifi chip and now got 5 of each coming so in a few days I can try again. Now at the car club meeting last night the issue of a better system for the volunteers when doing the tasks for members for log books etc so as the PC3 is so cheap along with micropython my learning curve can be making a input database for them so it is easier on them on big days. Peter thanks for that new book and got lots of reading to do today those chips will be here next week so got plenty of time to play. Now using the SDCard yesterday I did find it sort of worked so today I will try again and hopefully get a bit further. Now with the GUI code there is no mention of pages and I do feel they are the key for my project with this car club project. With my Surface Grinder project I did build up the code in multiple pages where Claude and Lyle filled in the gaps and with this micropython I'm sure it will go that extra mile into becoming a one stop shop that just works.
