... and the risk is that the quieter it is, the quieter it will get. Normally Peter's updates sustain a regular heartbeat on the forum, but he's quiet at the moment. Assuming he isn't having a well deserved rest then he has dropped enough clues that I have a suspicion what he is working on ... we will find out whether I am right . In the absence of Peter's posts I was wondering whether those of us not working on "secret" projects might like to share ? I will start: I am undertaking a major update of MMBasic for Linux (MMB4L) to add hi-res graphics, audio and game-controller support (using SDL2) with the intention of MMB4L being configurable to simulate (for game purposes) the CMM2, PicoMiteVGA and Game*Mite with minimal/no changes to the MMBasic programs. I have a reasonable proportion of this working for CMM2 simulation and expect to be able to run the pre-installed Game*Mite games within a month. Alongside this I am updating @vegipete's Akalabeth port to have a slightly more modern UI with game-controller support and also run on the PicoMiteVGA and Game*Mite. Anyone else ? I've just completed one of my non-computer projects - rewiring the mains to the combi. The installing "electrician" left dangling Wago connectors underneath it. Not even in a box or even tie-wrapped up. Rough as .... That was in spite of me offering to make off the mains end of the lead into a fused spur unit for him. He didn't even check that the fuse was the right size for the combi. And I can't be trusted to change a mcb in my own consumer unit. It's "notifiable work" under part P of the building regulations. Next job is probably painting the front door. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

I'm re-purposing a 6ft LED strip light to use WS812 LED strips - linked to PicoMite to make a vertical "display" (countdown timer) for use in a primary classroom. Pulling it together over the coming weeks -- with a "tick" sound as the bar reduces and an alarm at the end. The PicoMite will allow different times to be set by either a GUI / LCD screen or buttons direct. Next job will be trying to replace the washing line!! Px |

So much lingo I don't understand. There are probably corresponding terms in North America, but I don't know what they are. Having just arrived back in Nova Scotia from Florida 10 days ago, my todo list is over 30 items long, but with nary an MMBasic project on it. Spring is sprung. Thanks for MMB4L hope to use it for scripting. I have been replacing a Zinsco breaker panel. Last November I was in dinning room when a GFI outlet in the kitchen nothing plugged in. Started smoking and flaming went out and could not get the breaker to turn off. Had to retrieve a screwdriver and remove the plate. I burnt my hand yanking the breaker out of the panel. I went online to get a replacement and found out these Zinsco panels was recalled years ago. Reported to the HOA to have others check theirs. Turns out many do and are now requesting owners to replace them. Where I am at had to use AFCI breakers to match code. Next is to lose gas tank water heater for mini tankless water heaters I will be putting one in each bathroom one in kitchen and one in laundry room. After that four mini-splits with heating and cooling. On going work on my E-Trike. Changing the MM170 for a PicoMite and adding 4" display. Testing ESP wifi camera from bike to my phone when shopping. Having FUN Quazee137 side note: Shoulder healing nicely but ribs still hurt like hell. Edited 2024-05-10 23:52 by Quazee137 |

I've been looking at these. Which one(s) have you decided on? PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

I'm still working on Knightmare. I'm finalizing the stage 7 implementation and soon I will start to implement the last level. The next steps after completing the game implementation is to make it work on the real CMM2 hardware and the picomite as well. I think I will need to add MMBL in my list |

If I do my job correctly then that will consist of adding exactly one line to your code: If Mm.Device$ = "MMB4L" Then Option Device "Colour Maximite 2" Best wishes, Tom Game*Mite, CMM2 Welcome Tape, Creaky old text adventures |

It's tax time for non-profit companies in the United States. I somehow found myself in the position of being treasurer for two of them (one, a classical music performance group, and the other is a foundation created to foster appreciation of natural open space (used to be four, including the Ventura, California section of the IEEE). I have been wistfully looking over my shelf full of assorted Waveshare Pico boards, and wondering what's next on the project list. Live in the Future. It's Just Starting Now! |

Right now I'm digging in the dirt. I'm in the process of optimizing the routines that work. Checking the ones that aren't ready yet to see if they work the way I want them to. (at the moment I'm puzzling over a method, how a stone can remember that it has fallen) Graphics, maps and self-written music are finished. 'no comment |

@Martin: That looks really good!! Have you considered using a one byte string array (Dim FallenStone$(20,30) length 1) for this?? Or an integer array with one bit for each stone? I'm sure! Best regards Michael causality ≠ correlation ≠ coincidence |

Hi Michael, I thought about that too, but it would lead to time-consuming checks and bookkeeping. The whole level is a string array of the tiles. As there are not so many different tiles, the upper bits of each Byte remain unused. For the "gravity" I scan the Map from bottom to top, and check whether there is air under a stone or a diamond (plus diagonals), if so it is moved one Position downwards. So it makes a difference whether it lies on the player or falls on him. My idea is to set the top bit of the tile in the map when the stone/diamond falls, so that the next scan knows that it was in motion. If it falls on dirt or another object, it stays where it is and the bit is deleted. Should work, will test this weekend. Cheers Martin Edited 2024-05-11 06:06 by Martin H. 'no comment |

I have a couple if projects "in the works". First is a simple garage door monitor based solely on a pair of JDY-41 transceivers. The breadboarded proof of concept was promising but failed the distance required. Ordered some new JDY-41s with external antenna connections and some antennas. Now I need to solder up a new test system and try again. Second item is a rework of my MAX7219 based LED matrix clock. The original commercial LED modules must be rotated 90 degrees to simplify the display software. I designed some new modules in AutoTRAX DEX and had some bare boards made. Now I need to solder up some modules to see if the new design actually works. --Curtis I am not a Mad Scientist... It makes me happy inventing new ways to take over the world!! |

I just moved from Germany to Helsinki Finland for a few month (work-related), with tinkering / MMBasic projects on hold for now. Lacking my workbench, maybe I should do some project documenting … But it’s nice to hear about everyone’s projects and ideas! Best Thomas |

I have been spending time keeping the MMX and MMB4W user manuals up to date (just keeping up with Peter is a challenge ) Really looking forward to Tom's MMB4L with graphics. @thwill - let me know if I can assist with the manual Tom, Regards, Doug. ... almost all of the Maximites, the MicromMites, the MM Extremes, the ArmMites, the PicoMite and loving it! |

I hope you like them as much as I do. I have a total of 3 compressors and 8 air handlers. The quietness and ability to heat or cool a single room is wonderful. I did all the work myself. I also installed three mini-splits, but had a high-school kid to do the lifting and ladder work. I have plans for two more next winter in Florida house and shed/workshop.
