I was perplexed to see new member JesseW's tidy workspace.
This is my work area ( as Tom could probably predict from my code

)

What does yours look like?

I'm not sure what "tidy" means. I have "stuff" distributed in various places, with the majority being in the shed. That has very little workspace though and is mainly used for mechanical stuff. I have various boxes of components in the other room on some racking and some partially buried close to where I sit in the living room. Most of the resistors are stored in their bags in a business card folder and two plastic boxes that cakes came in. My "work area" is just a little bigger than the bit of table that's left clear when I move the keyboard out of the way! Test gear is balanced wherever it will fit at the time. :) I sometimes *dream* of having a "proper" work area ...

Hi lads,

I think TIDY is a 4 letter word, I have a plethora of stuff piled on top of stuff that is piled on even more stuff, including on the floor in a very hap hazard manner.

I have many half finished projects, somewhere, on my bench. Strangely I know where most stuff is.

I have tried to tidy (sorry for swearing) the room up but I always get distracted when it’s starting to look good and there the tidying stops.

I have a small shed also packed to the rafters with stuff, and a lot of stuff in the roof above my garage.

I know part of this disease is the fact I hate throwing stuff away. I have several dead laptops, because I may need a mosfet or other part off one of them some time in the next 60 years.

I am a disgrace to the Virgo community.

Both the work spaces above look very organised and neat compared to mine.

I will wait to see other embarrassing spaces before I post pictures and open myself up to ridicule.

A man after my own heart, Mick. I'm always impressed if I can see any clear worksurface.

I've always said that my desk is the battleground between order and chaos, and even if it looks like chaos has the upper hand, order will result in the end.

Here's mine... with extra (i.e. beyond the MMBasic realm) stuff for programming ATTiny85s etc.

My wife would say that here's clear evidence of my OCD :-)

Thank you to those of you who are tidy enough (or brave enough) to post your photos. I have a new space setup in the house which my wife has affectionalty named my "Nerd Nook"

which is currently in not too bad a shape...it hasn't been in existance that long yet.

My shed is an absolute nightmare, and I'm sure that if I posted photos of it you would probably have me signed up to "Hoarders Anonymous". As others have mentioned, I have too many projects on the go, and I'm not prepared to let any of them go, and also too many interests. Retirement is just not coming fast enouh for me.

As for tidying, I get it partially tidied and then never finish it to any level of satisfaction before I'm back into projects. I'm seriously concerned that it's turning into a significant fire hazard.

Hmmm...OK time for me to come clean, but honestly looking at some of you I've decided my mess is modest. My wife does not agree and I'm often threatened with an arbitrary (while I'm not there) cleanup! Nooo...

Mick, I reckon you win and Peter you get the Spock award (most purposeful - note the blue cloth for wiping sweat off the brow)! Geoff would have to be Luc Picard - even looks like him a bit :)

Not sure what happened to the colours - I rotated it with Gimp.

The other big cupboard is chocka, as are the two filing cabinets. The biggest problem I reckon is cables, they take up so much room but you never have the one you want if you get rid of any. I'd love a couple of nice shelves like some of you professionals have but I've been threatened with divorce if I try!
