I made this the other night and wondered if it is OK as most of the sites use 3 rectifers ?
Also does anyone know if this is a 60amp rectifier, here is another pic.

And I found 3 of these are they 25 amp ?

Also found a couple of these any clues ?, I am sure that I have seen them incoporated in wind power wiring projects .

Hi I have found out myself what the gold colored electronic unit is ,it is a wire wound resistor ?question is what would you use them for in wind power electrics.

G'day Phil,
Let's do the last one first. It is a 0.75 Ohm resistor able to dissipate 30 Watts of power. Quite large and expensive compared to 0.25 W resistors used in say logic circuits. Hi Watt resistors could be used as a load dump in a wind gen circuit or as a load to determine generator power curve. Yours however are a little low in Ohms to be ideal for these applications. Still an excellent item to keep in the junk box.

Now back to the top.
Yes that circuit is fine provided you input is within the specs of the component.
It is a 3 Phase Rectifier arrangement where each phase uses half of a single phase Bridge Rectifier.
To boost current carrying capacity or to improve reliability we can use a single phase bridge rectifier for each phase. In this arrangement all it does is use two diodes in parallel instead of just one for each diode bias. It just doubles up the diodes that make up the rectifier.

As to the bridge rectifiers:

26MB60A is 25A 600V

GBPC2502 is 25A 200V

As a little tip to identifying conponents... just use Google. Type in what you think it is and it's component number. Easy hey.

This gave me links to suppliers and spec sheets and more.
What more could a bloke ask for?

I am sorry that you have to spend time answering my novice questions,
I am only a Shift Engineer/ H&V fitter welder .
Like you say all good for the spare parts Bin !!!
I goggle the bits but dont know what use they are ?
Do you think I should go for 3x 35 amp rectifers that I can get on ebay ?

I think that I would just stick with what you've got for the time being.

If later you find your mill is pushing out above say 18 Amps then it wouldn't hurt to look at upgrading to a higher amp rectifier then. 35 amp ones will bolt straight in as upgrade for your existing 25 amp ones or for a super upgrade go 3 x 35 amp.

35Amp bridge rectifiers are only $4.95 each at Jaycar.

In terms of a Wind turbine installation,
their cost is relative to changing the oil in your car.
I'm only a wind turbine beginner, but see no reason not
to make something very future proof in the first place?



If not actually, then potentially.
