Hi, does anyone know how to wire up the mini mill battery charger. I can see the vero board and all the connections but haven't really got a clue as to what goes where. How do I determine the correct wire coming from the stepper motor and to what pin does it connect to on each rectifier? Maybe if the vero board was flipped I might be able to tell.

Hi Alan

Just about every stepper I've seen has different colour wire combinations, its just about impossible to say how to connect it up. But what I did was measure the resistance between the windings to work out which wires connect to the coils, and then I spun the windmill by hand and measured the output voltages. It took a while, but I found the combination that made the most power.

It wont matter which wires you run into the stepper motor if its a 4 wire motor, as your running them into a rectifier. The rectifier will take a negative voltage and send it to the negative output, doesnt matter which wire it comes from. Thats assuming you wire up your rectifier correctly.

Thanks storm that site's great, I think I shall be alright with it now. I understand why steppers are more suitable for this kind of application also.
