G'day Guy's,
As a favour for a work mate I'm having a look at his F&P washing machine as he said it was in the shed and if I want it for parts I could have it. As it is only about 5 years old I told him I'll have a look and try and fix it for him.

I pulled the pcb's out and no magic smoke was present and the boards looked like new. Now the machine filled normally but when it was time for the motor to start it just beeped then reset. Putting it on the spin cycle pumped the water out nicely and today I took some tools around and took the motor out for a look.

The motor is a 60 series and looks brand new and the hall effect board looks to be the problem. My mate did say they used to have a pet rat and it got under there quite often and used to race out when the machine was put on. It does look from the evident hair the pee has lifted some of the tracks and broken 2 tracks.

Now this hall effect board doesn't have the smd(122) resistor on the board only a very small smd cap. I have 2 hall effect boards here but both have that resistor on.

So the Q is would these boards suit or do I need to go hunt for the exact same board for it. I do intend going around after work tomorrow to try my hall effect boards out but eh it they aren't suitable better to ask then do the wrong thing and watch that magic smoke show up on where i'm trying to fix the machine.

Regards Bryan

G'day Bryan,
I don't know anything about WM motors, but there was an article in the Silicon Chip recently about using a motor that I think was from a WM for another purpose.

So the article may help you.

I had a look through my SC mags, but I can't find Jan or Feb this year.

So it may be in one of those. I'll have a tidy up later & will hopefully find them.

I'll let you know.

all the best, Len

G'day Len,
I went around after work today with the ones I had and put in the brandnew one, put it all back together and it worked like a charm. So now my workmate won't have to use that ol' twin tub anymore and the F&P will see a few more years. So rather than another F&P motor on the shelf in my shed the washing machine is going great and I'm getting paid in the universal currency tomorrow. A slab of Pale ales......
