Hi Steve

it looks like a capacitive power factor correction device, these have been around in different forms for years, but frowned upon by the power companies as it corrects the power factor at the meter.

I have tried a few with varying results, this one seems to be well constructed so may be OK, some of the ones I tried let the magic smoke out, not sure if they have the capacity to absorb power pulses as in storms or crossed line events.

For the price of it it would want to have a good guarantee period and approval by the power suppliers.

All the best

Those snake oil boxes were debunked by silicon chip
about a year back. If they claim to save power, it won't,
the cap is too small to absorb transient surge, it just lags
the energy, it won't absorb it. The claims sound great, but
as bob says, power factor correction (even if needed) won't
save one single watt at the meter. Basically where the load
is on the sinewave relative to the perfect power factor of 100
doesn't affect the energy drawn and logged by your meter.
Silicon chip found that it actually wasted more than it saved
due to the LED which indicated power being wasted.
Best of luck, but I wouldn't waste my money.

Hi Steve
looking at their website reminded me of those other wonder
products from years ago, like the fuel catalyst that saved you
mpg in your car.. But didn't, the propeller thing you fitted under
your carburettor to atmomise the already atomized fuel.. It actually made
consumption worse, those silly plastic discs for your washing machine,
to cleanse using 'ionozation'. This thing thing is no different, just the
same bogus claims and no actual facts at all. They use a sweeping
claim about 35% saving! What rubbish. They could have done better
while they were at it, like calling it 'anticarbonatronic-green-freemoney-
feelgood-device and it pays your bills and cleans the gutters too. It
is frustrating seeing people get ripped off behind a veil of lies.
