Parts needed 
Gentlemen, I just joined you forum today. I need 2SK 3061 N-chanel Mosfet and I found some article about it dated in 2005. You said that it is available in Australia then. Jaycar lists a 2SK1058 N channel mosfet rated at 7A at $16.35 in quantities of 25+ or an IRF540N rated at 100V 33A for $4.75 or STP16NE06 60V16A at $1.85 try www.jaycar.com.au Luck favours the well prepared |

What purpose are the mosfets for. General low voltage, low frequency swithing allows many options. More info will allow a better solution. Gordon. become more energy aware |

Gentlemen, Thanks for your help. I was trying to get it locally from US or Canada for last 2 weeks, but no luck. I just got about 100 quotations from Hong Kong, ranging from 0.25 cents to $2.50. They all want to sell me something,and ship it the same day  , where in Canada or US nobody cared.
This N-channel mosfet will be used to make solid state vibrators for old tube car or home radios. The reason why I tried Australia was article from 2005 on your site by Dom? There is a guy in AU selling vibrator kits, but after several e-mails, no reply. I guess he does not want to sell to Canada and does not care. Kind regards, Tony  Tony |

Tonda, It sounds to me that any old FET (N-channel) should work. I had a look at the datasheet ( http://www.datasheet.org.uk/pdf-datasheets/Datasheets-306/93 603.pdf) and the Id=35A (70A peak) seems overkill (never mind the fact that 35A continuous from a TO220 package is wishful thinking - a bunch of STE45NK80 FETs happen to be lying on my desk - 45A, but in ISOTOP package....) If you'd post the schematic people could make a better guess at the needed ratings for that FET, but 35A (continuous) seems to be way overkill to me for a vibrator that only has to power the filaments and anodes of 3-5 valves. Sounds like any old FET of 200V/10A should work, but if you post a schematic we can determine for certain. Seems *very* unlikely that the 2SK3061 is the only part that would work - most likely any generic FET with suitable ratings will do the job, be much easier to find and a whole lot cheaper to boot. Peter. (<-- spent the better half of the day wondering why he kept blowing up tantalum elcos and TTL ICs on a complicated board... till he realized that he had earlier replaced a 7805 by a 7812....  )
(and fully repaired/restored a Philips BX453 valve radio in the past - about 10 different, unrelated defects in that one) |

I'm sure you are correct, Peter, But first I will make the vibrator working with those 2SK3061 and than I'll try to substitute for something available locally. I'm getting those from Hong Kong for US $ 0.31 each, good price, but shipping to Canada was $29.00. I have no idea how to place a schematic on this forum, I would have to scan it first and than e-mail it as attachment? I would be working on this schematic later, I would have to figure out some modyfications for positive ground car radios .
