Hi fellow windmillers, first i would like to thank Glenn, Greg and Kiwi John for thier recent input, basically i have been looking at the best way to set up my F & P to gain most power. I have a property at Murray Bridge with Wind Power that can only be described as unrelenting. The wind has destroyed 2 sets of blades at 1200mm and i have now reduced my new set of blades to 900mm, i will fit up the new unit next weekend. I am deciding weather to rewire this unit to delta or leave it the way it is and put it up. Bench testing of this F & P 100s unit seems to be giving a heck of a lot of power ie i turn the unit slowly by hand and rectify it with an auto alternator rectifier and it puts out 30 + volts DC by the multi meter, i expect that given the wind power here that it would put out 500 + volts AC, i have seen my windmills spin so fast that they sound like jumbo jets !(a bit scary at times ) i need to rectify to usable DC battery bank charging and that seems to be the main problem. Any way here is a couple of unfinished photos. I have cut the shaft and placed a steel disc behind the rotor, the timber plate is a packer to overcome the stub that the plastic nut would normally be. The blades are from 18 mm ply all resined and the chords are fibreglassed, there is then a fibreglassed ply plare and 3 steel pieces of flat drilled out with 2 1/2" bolts fitted completely thru to the steel plate rhat has been drilled and taped, need to fit and balance the tail yet. Hi Bob. Looks good. The stronger the better I always say. What sort of dog is that, it looks a similar breed to my dog, and I have no idea what that is . Is it hyper active and gets over excited and runs like a horse? Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Hi Glenn, that dowgs name is Bully the Rohdesian Ridgeback, they are usually fairly mean but this girl is as soft as jelly has never bitten anyone and after a warning bark will lick you to death, i didnt want a tough dog just a mate to keep me company when im at the block playing windmills. Trained very early to be kind they make a great companion, they normally cost from $500 + but i got her for $250, shes 12 months old now and weighs 40 kilos. I enclose a photo its a bit bright but you will notice that the ridge on her back actually goes backwards hence the name

Ok guys i have decided i am going to rewire this stator in to delta and put it up on the 13 metre pole on tuesday, my wife has given me the week off to go and play windmills, sooooo i will repair the broken blades on the existing star unit and put up a new 9 metre pole. ( I havent told her yet ) This will give one unit in star and one in delta, no need for switches and i can sit back and admire 2 windmills with my cold beer, i am also designing a pole that will take 2 units one on top and one 3 metres down rotating on a pair of half bearings, just might work and i can admire 3 units and have another cold beer. Have a happy new year everyone and i will send photos end of next week.
