Hi LLoyd Welcome to the message board. The message board had a problem with your email address, it tried to send you a message to confirm your membership, but the email message didn't get through. Can you send me a email at gizmo@thebackshed.com and I'll sort it out for you. Yes it would be good to see some photos of your windmills. Regards Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Hey Lloyd, My name is Nick Venstra. I guess I am your neighbor (I live in Indiana), and I have been reading up on home wind systemsfor the last few years with the ententions of eventually building something for myself. I am not in a very good place for wind though. I was interested in how much power you are able to generate and what sort of system you had; what sort of generator works best for you? What sort of responces have you gotten from your neighbors? Do you feed the grid? Thanks, Nick V. |

I got your posting, Lloyd. As for my wind projects, I don't have access to a machine shop, so I tend to look through scrap yards for things that will work with as little modification as possable, and then do what I can with hand tools. I have been looking for a good, low speed generator that I can make out of things I can find in a junk yard. I would like to find a large stepper motor or a servo that I can pick for cheap. The only problem is that I don't know a lot about servo motors so I am not really sure what I am looking for exactly. There are plenty of small steppers such as the ones used in coomputer printers and the sort. But I was wanting to do something on a bit larger scale. O.K. I guess I am just getting a bit excited about finally having a place to chat with others who share my interest in wind energy. LOL |
