Apparently Kicad will import gerber files to editable Kicad copper layer, not the full pcb design but sounds good.
Could be really useful - anyone tried it ?

I did quite awhile ago. The project that I wanted to import was from Eagle, IIRC, and my target was KiCAD. It didn't work for me, but this was back in the version 3 or 4 days of KiCAD.

The reason for doing it was the PCB maker was a KiCAD shop (in Oz, no less), and he didn't handle the Eagle format.

It was a great place to get PCBs while it lasted.
