Hi all, The datasheet for the Texas Instruments TPA6012A4 Audio amp shows a typical circuit for the device(Figure 21). The headphone socket in the circuit shows a 4 contact headphone socket, but all I can seem to find is 5 contact versions. from datasheet I assume typical 5 contact Do I just tie pins 3 and 4 together. This is to mute stereo speakers when headphones are inserted. Regards MMWombat Keep plugging away, it is fun learning But can be expensive (if you keep blowing things up). I would start with ignoring pin 4, leaving it open circuit. That way it replicates the top schematic - only one channel used for mute detect. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Thanks Jim Now All I have to do is add the part into dex Regards MMWombat Keep plugging away, it is fun learning But can be expensive (if you keep blowing things up). Maximite, ColourMaximite, MM+ |

Hi Wombat, Is that a 3.5mm or 6.5mm Socket? Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

@ bigmik That was a 3.5 mm version. Was going to order some through ebay, then map those into dex, so I know the footprint fits. For a shield I should probably go SMT, rather than through hole. Once I get the schematic finished I might get you to check it for me, if that is ok, haven't built too many boards before. Successfully added the Keystone 8650C Module into the dex library, so a headphone jack should be easy. When ordering the caps, should I just get tantalums for everything?
