Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
I have a double sided PCB in Diptrace and I am trying to link the ground pads of the 3T regs to the copper fill on the bottom of the PCB with vias for thermal purposes. Every time I try to achieve this I get errors in the DRC. Can anyone help with the right procedure to accomplish this? OA47

I use Diptrace quite a lot, cannot say I have seen this issue; are the Gnd pads on the same net as the copper fill other side of pcb?
Cheers Mike

Thanks for the Reply Mike. The copper pour was not connected to a net. I didn't have a selection of a ground net but the pads for the ground on the 3T regs was net 0 so I attached the pour to net 0 and all is happy. OA47

On further inspection this looses my bottom tracks so back to the drawing board.

Just curious, OA47 reminds me of a germanium diode of yesteryear. Your avatar shows one too. Can you still buy germanium diodes?Edited by Tinker 2018-01-27Klaus

Yes, still available, the 1N34 is one example. They are still useful for some obscure things where you might want zero forward threshold voltage, but at extremely low current.
A crystal set radio, or an RF voltage measurement probe for example.Cheers, Tony.

I chose OA47 for my avatar as AFAIR that would have been the first semiconductor I would have purchased for a project (Crystal Set)
