Hi All, I would like to have a program that can work out the best fit for a series of tiles into a defined polygon area without overlap of tiles or edges. My requirement is to calculate the best fit for solar panels on a defined roof area. Seems like a good candidate for MMBasic and sprites but I am a bit pushed for time at the moment. Has anyone on the forum done any work in this are? Any advice or pointers would be appreciated. Regards, Doug. ... almost all of the Maximites, the MicromMites, the MM Extremes, the ArmMites, the PicoMite and loving it! |

There are programs (not in MMBasic!) which are designed for exactly this purpose on the PC. I think they are free too. Virtually all solar panel installers use them, of course. :) I know that at least one uses an aerial view from Google Maps. You draw the roof outline over the picture and run the program. It sorts out your panel positions. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
