A little known Fact is the Garden of Eden was Located in Texas down in the Hill Country specifically centering on John T. Floore's Country Store in Helotes, TX! and Eve was actually from Oklahoma, that's why she did what she did!

That seems contraindicated by Sheridan's observation: "If I owned Hell and Texas, I would rent Texas and live at the other place".

I wasn't born in Texas.   But I got here as quickly as I could.   Texas should be its own little country.   And the way things are going we very possibly will exercise our right to secede from the Union.   I wouldn't doubt Louisiana and Oklahoma want to come with us.

@EDNEDN

My 22 year old daughter is selling up and moving from NC to TX and her brother will follow when done with Uni.

Two of my other boys are looking to buy property there also.

I'm learning some country songs on the guitar because it looks like I'll be joining them   Yee Haw.

Spent 30 years in SE MI. I'm actually a fish-out-of-water here in the UK. I have a habit of greeting complete strangers on the street and they react like I'm about to attack them

I miss proper steak-houses and even The Outback (Ahi Tuna addict).

We have a wannabe Texas-de-Brazil in Manchester (Bem Brasil) but watered-down compared to the real thing. Same thing with Hibachi.

Loose tea? No thanks   tastes great until you get a gob-full of the tea-leaves and I can't be bothered with a strainer.
All I miss in NA is proper bacon

Oh I know. Impossible to imbibe at room temperature

Ah.... Manchester UK.
I'm 45 mins away by train (when they are running. I've given up depending on them and might not renew my Railcard). I've been to Manchester a couple of times when it was sunny there. :)

I know Piccadilly train-station very well   Sometimes I go there just because they have a TGI Fridays upstairs. Jack Daniels wings...not on the menu but they'll make them on request and they're just like over-the-pond  .

The homeless people  : One guy asked me for "money for food" but instead, I went into Greggs and grabbed him a variety of stuff....he threw a fit because he wanted cash. "This is Manchester, mate You don't with people from Manchester". Charming.

Another reason to like TGI's, no windows to the outdoors.

I'm local to Manchester too, but other than the all too rare trip in for the Palace or Opera House it doesn't offer anything I want anymore. It certainly doesn't look much like it did when I would travel in on the train 35 years ago (I'm starting to grow into the TBS age group), huge numbers of medium-rise apartment blocks, what do these people do for a living ? Surely there is a finite limit to how many mobile phones, sausage rolls and lavender scented candles we can sell each other ?

Best wishes,

Tom

You think those trains are bad? It's not that long since the line between Preston and Manchester was electrified. Before that everything was plodding, rickety diesels at least 50 years old. Now we have some rather nice electrified trains. :)  They do get busy between Bolton, Salford Crescent and Manchester Piccadilly though.

They are workin' in't mills, of course, lad! Eh, I don't know, kids nowadays...

There is a housing crisis in a lot of countries ( I blame the economists    ). So "Incubator" suburbs are developed with malls and housing unit complexes built near train stations...increasingly they look like giant egg cartons.

@Rickard5

Brought those pics up just as I was tucking-in to Heinz beans on toast   (still good though).

That pork chop at Perry's; I first saw it on the flame grill and thought it was a huge filet. They informed me that it was pork and I had to try it. Oh man, I was there for 13 nights and had the same thing each visit.

Shame about TGI's. As a business traveler, I'd often pick those places because they were always lively.

Jack Daniel's: We had a project in Shelbyville TN and I thought it would be cool to book a hotel in Lynchburg, home of the JD distillery. Six of us checked-in, hit the shower and met in the lobby to go for dinner. I asked the gal at the desk to recommend a steakhouse with a good wine selection and she said "It's a dry county". Huh? JD was making whiskey here   Un-freaking-believable

Well, we were all dog-tired but we instantly checked-out and headed up to Murphreesboro.

If you want Lively next time you're near Dallas I'll take you to Cowboys Red River , I'd about the safest place with a Mechanical Bull, now if you're feeling Adventurous we can go to the crystal Palace and you drop in on a real bull but I'm too old for that. We do the Perry's $20 Pork chop once or twice a month ;)
