My RTC Batteries are dead in both my CMMs, I took a break from Everything for a while and am trying to get back at it, anyway Neither battery has leaked yet, so I Pulled Them! Any thoughts on playing with them with our batteries? Any thoughts about long term damage if I don't replace them? One other Question does anyone remember who made this board? I;d Love to see if I can get the Proper case for it, the Printed one I drew turned out to be Janky as Jank ;) I'd also Love to get instructions on how to flash the latest firmware :) Thank you Rickard :) I may be Vulgar, but , while I'm poor, I'm Industrious, Honest, and trustworthy! Based on the board marking, these were made by www.circuitgizmos.com The website seems to be down right now. I was on the website a few weeks ago and it was working at the time, but he has been sold out of the CMM2 for 2-3 years, when the supply of CPU’s dried up. |

It'll almost certainly be fine without the battery, however if you set the time and/or date it'll be lost as soon as you lose power. If there is anything in the RTC memory that will go too as it is battery-maintained CMOS. I've never heard of any RTC that is damaged by not having a battery, no matter how long you use it for. After all, it's safe with a flat battery. :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

It'll be roughly as per the User Manual (sorry!). Which OS do you want to send the firmware from? (windows/Linux/MacOS?) John |

The store is back up. It looks like a case was available at one time https://circuitgizmos.com/gizmo-store/RetroMax-CGs-Color-Maximite-2-p241231864 |

JOHN I'm agnostic being the fool I am I'm still trying to figure out how to talk to my Picomites from RASPBERRY PI OS :) but my Macs are my daily drivers, and my pc are my work horses, home servers and Ollama webUI / coda core box and some PyTorch / tensor flow I may be Vulgar, but , while I'm poor, I'm Industrious, Honest, and trustworthy! I've posted some info for programming various of the 'mites from Linux - and I guess by RASPBERRY PI OS you mean Raspbian, which is Linux. The Picomite just appears as a drive when you set it into programming mode and you follow the RPi foundation's instructions (copy uf2 file across). John Edited 2024-06-22 06:17 by JohnS |

I used a CNC to mill-out the face panels (and the remainder of the box). Those files were all lost with the computers and CNC because of a disturbance in my life. I don't have any way to specify milling out a case for the front of the board with any more accuracy than using a caliper would provide, sorry. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

I did buy a new cheap milling machine to try to rebuild some of the capabilities I had prior to the things that set me back. I'm not dead in the water. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

Gizmo, I picked up one of them Cheep 3018 desktop CNC mill / routers on Bangood when they were on sale for $100, then open 100s hours and incalculable favors and Love in trade with some of my machinist friends making it useable ;) Mainly because I met this Gal years ago that worked at Kiser Aluminum where they Extruded the Shapes that make Killer Project cases, and she got me a life time supply of cutoff drops in all sizes and shapes, I got a few left I make my fece platers from the 3 layer sign plastic is I can cutout and engrave labels The SAD SAD thing is the Kiser plant here is gone so what I got is all there will be. I'll send you my DXFs when I stop being lazy and get them done one more Question my power button its laid back like 30 degrees is this on purpose or have I damaged it? it still works, I'm just wondering if I should spend the $$$ to have one of the Rework girls to straighten it out?
