Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi All,

Please ignore my previous post, it appears the long tile means I cant add any messages.

It appears that the "Australian Computer Museum Society" (ACMS) has claimed an original Colour Maximite to add to their collection.

At the same time they have also accepted Don's (aka Dontronics) claim to the first personal computer in Australia. You can read up on it below and they have accepted Don's (somewhat modified) donation of his TRS80 to add to their trove of Computer equipment.

Australias first PC

There will be an interview in the coming months between Dontronics (Don) and ACMS about the TRS80 and other things. I will post links to the podcast when they are available

Regards,

Mick (the big one)

Excellent.

Also, they really need one of the original monochrome Maximites published in the April, March and May 2011 issues of Silicon Chip.  Many thousands of them were built and Altronics was overwhelmed by the demand with a constant backlog for many months.  It was also the seed that started this forum on The Back Shed when Glenn wrote about building one in Late 2011 (you can read his post here).

That article takes me back many years.

Time flies when you're having fun.... my first computer was a Dick Smith Super-80 kit (was also my first soldering foray and amazingly it worked first time it was powered on). That would have been in '81/82. Was it the first kit computer with display, keyboard and booting to Basic in Ozz?
