Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I'm not a fan of HTML code or webpage design either, which is why I have a website company design and maintain my website - doing it myself would probably have driven me nuts! Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Hi Mick, It is all about learning a new language. And it is not a compact language. Where in MMBasic you can TEXT a,b,"hello World",CT,2,2,RGB(x),RGB(y) this requires 10 lines of code in HTML.. You can share variables (and graphics) between the 2. But the Mite does not have a HTML editor, so the HTML must be created on a PC. It feels to me that the 2 (MMBasic and HTML) work a bit independent from eachother. But I haven't played with it much. I was hoping to learn a bit from Geoffs watering controller code and the training course on this forum (which is a good starting point). But the training course stopped. Anyway.. it is not the webmite, it is the new language..... Volhout Edited 2024-02-26 17:31 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

The html doesn't scare me. I used to have a web site that used a skeleton layout (using StrangeBanana)then I customised it in raw html to make it do what I want. Even now, my Nascom site uses a lot of my own html because I find some things are just easier and quicker to do that way. Editing index.html is fine in the Pico's editor - at least for what I'm doing at the moment. I got Geoff's basic web server up and running fine. The problem came when I added a frame and radio buttons. Eventually I went back to his first example and built it up from that. Now it works some of the time. The browser seems to send the command to change a button but then reports that there's been no response (I know the Pico has seen the command and it's triggered the response). Sometimes the browser then sorts itself out after a few seconds but, although it has the correct page loaded, the button flags haven't been updated. I looked at Geoff's watering controller for inspiration just before the safety valve on my head opened to let out the excess steam....
