In playing around with a driver for a SSD1963 type LCD display I used Techtoys 7 inch datasheet as a guide for setting the timings for horizontal HT, HPS & HPW and vertical VP, VPS & VPW. These work fine on my 7 inch LCD but on my 5 inch display I appear to get some writing during the blanking period. Noting these timings are probably a little dependent on the manufacturer, does anyone know if there is a rule of thumb or guide for setting these for 5 inch and 9 inch displays based around the 7 inch timings or is it a matter of trial and error noting there is some lee way? I wrote drivers using the SSD1963 many moons ago for the Micromite Plus and I remember that there was no definitive timing available and, even worse, the timing seemed to vary by the LCD glass used. In the end I used a lot of trial and error. You can see my efforts (written in C) by downloading the Micromite source code from https://mmbasic.com/source.html Geoff Edited 2023-11-28 18:01 by Geoffg Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Thanks Geoff, considering how extensively these types of displays are used its surprising how little manufacturer's timing information is readily available. Gerry |
