Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

In playing around with a driver for a SSD1963 type LCD display I used Techtoys 7 inch datasheet as a guide for setting the timings for horizontal HT, HPS & HPW and vertical VP, VPS & VPW. These work fine on my 7 inch LCD but on my 5 inch display I appear to get some writing during the blanking period.
Noting these timings are probably a little dependent on the manufacturer, does anyone know if there is a rule of thumb or guide for setting these for 5 inch and 9 inch displays based around the 7 inch timings or is it a matter of trial and error noting there is some lee way?

I wrote drivers using the SSD1963 many moons ago for the Micromite Plus and I remember that there was no definitive timing available and, even worse, the timing seemed to vary by the LCD glass used.  In the end I used a lot of trial and error.

You can see my efforts (written in C) by downloading the Micromite source code from https://mmbasic.com/source.html

Thanks Geoff, considering how extensively these types of displays are used its surprising how little manufacturer's timing information is readily available.
