My very old tape based answering died belt broke along with plastic gear. Now wondering if an all digital unit can be done with the pico using SD card, 2nd 16Meg flash or spi ram. I'm going to gut the old answering unit or/and old phone and have a play with adding an auto dialer. I.E record the numbers and then playing back from a pico. I think the full number can be saved as a file and when played back should dial out. Like "888 777 3456" as a single audio file named for the person being called.Also "911 name address phone name address phone name address phone" in one file to send out. My son wants it to call him if I haven't pushed a button in 24 hours. As health issues have been creeping up. the question is how much audio can be saved on the fly? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated Quazee137 |

It might be easier to gut an old phone with a dtmf chip and use that to do the dialing. It would have all the required interfacing as well. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

DTMF dialling tones are the sum of two accurate sinewaves so you might have issues with recording then playing them back. The frequencies generated by the TONE command are quite accurate so you could use that to generate the DTMF dialling tones. Left channel for one frequency and right channel for the other then sum them with a resistor network to get the dialling tone.
