Hi , atm i use my old HD vga Monitor for the pico vga.

But i think a 24“ screen isnt a good solution. So what are you using ?

I will be using

2 Dell 15"
1 Dell 17"
1 HP 17" up and running
and my Samsung TV 32"

Only have 1 of Grogster LVT board done waiting on level shifters the ones
I have a box of the power pins is on one end not centered.

Don't you think screen size depends on too many factors to generalise?

Do you want 45 lines of 130 characters for programming?
How far away from the screen are your eyes?
How good is your vision anyway?
Does the monitor have to be moved around?
Are you also using the monitor for full-screen C programming or for watching TV?

I think it's very much down to personal circumstances and you use what you are comfortable with in any particular set of circumstances. You may enjoy programming using a laptop connected to the console port but playing the final games on a 40" TV connected to the VGA output. :)

You are right Mixtel90 , i search for a little monitor . So much brands on ebay but i prefere a tested one

My preferred old monitors are DELL 1600x1200 (2007FPb) 20" IPS, great picture and excellent at both 640x480 and, of course 800x600

Mine is my ancient el-cheapo 14-inch DELL VGA.

Seems perfect.

Check charity shops. Often £5 for 14". £10 for 14" TV with vga socket.

I’m using a Diamond 15” LCD. I love the compact size. I also have some Sony 15” LCDs that I have used when playing with ESP32 based VGA boards, as they handle imperfect VGA signals better than the Diamond and offer a greater range of signal frequencies.

24'' DELL ...

Its the 2nd Monitor of my Desk Setup
2 monitors are used by my Laptop via DisplayPort ...
I can Switch input on2nd Monitor to VGA to see, what the Pico is doing.
It might be to big but I had no space for a seperat Monitor

can anyone clever talk about the implications of native resolution vs 640x480 ?
aliasing and artefacts etc.

most vga auto detects the signal even a tv vga?? not a problem for pico.
windows resolution depends on the graphic card... and the display.

Small is beautiful!

7-inch VGA with Mick's VGA mini PCB. Color rendition in the photo (from my cell phone) is terrible, but the colors on the screen are wrong--red for blue, etc.

(Now I've got to add the SD card and the audio to be able actually to play Petscii Robots.)

I also have Mick's PicoStickVGA somewhere, if I can just find it.

Yes, I also have plans to use a 7" VGA monitor, easily got from eBay or AliExpress for about $50.

Failing that, full-size 4:3 LCD panels are preferred, as then the VGA image lines up with the native resolution of the monitor. Yes, you can usually change the 16:9 monitors, to "Center" a 4:3 image, but actual standard 4:3 monitors look better when hooked to the PM VGA, and they are a dime a dozen at pretty much any computer repair shop. LOTS of perfectly fine 4:3 monitors simply get biffed, cos no-one wants them.

The 4:3's that I have, are Philips and AOC among other brands.

Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!
