OK nice but I counter with my favorite free contemporary painter software.https://krita.org/en/ krita is amazing and works with almost any drawing pad including pressure levels and tilt. There are a lot more as well but it is overall the best free program I have tried. Does anyone else have any suggestions? |

It must be me...... I like MS Paint, and I use it to create simple things in NO time at all. Thank you for hinting Krita. I installed krita, and tried to make a simple thing. "this option is not available in the chosen layer" "you cannot use this brush" I have been looking at MS Paint alternatives for soooooo long. The only programs I found is programs that are made to create beautiful art. Multiple layers, soo many options, beautiful, but way to complex for what I need. Just paste a jpeg in it, and place an arrow where the focus should be, add some explaining text, save it, done. That is all I need. What layer ?... I don't care. I am back to MS Paint in Wine. Yes, for an artist all the options are great but for me they just get in the way. Paint is easier and quicker. |

my Windows default graphics program is Paint.net.I looked at GrafX2. I'm probably too used to the Windows Gui, so it's difficult to get used to it at first. I use kolourpaint to do my minecraft music resource pack record icons.  Makes doing 12 record icons real easy. Quazee137 Yea I know its for Linux they also have krita but much more than I need. |

Thanks for the pointer to KolourPaint, hopefully it is more stable than Pinta which keeps crashing for me on Ubuntu 23. And I agree with everyone saying that sometimes you just want something simple for some "programmer graphics" rather than something designed for artists and photographers.
