Hi all,
Noob question

Has anybody set up Telnet with Tera Term and how?
I have been trying to figure it out but not getting anywhere.
My WebMite is connected to my guest wifi network and showing up as such.
As a test I am able to update the WebMite time via the internet so it is working.
I'm stumped right now lol.
Any help appreciated!

Hi DrifterNL,

Yes, I have.

In options you must enable telnet.

Then you should connect through IP address (I used Putty, never used Teraterm for Telnet.)

Hi Volhout,

I should have mentioned it, I do have telnet enabled (ON).

In PuTTY I get: Network error: Connection timed out

In Tera Term I get: Connection timed out

My guess is something is blocking the communication.

Firewall or router blocking port 23?

Volhout

Edit: run in a separate window a ping for the ip address while running teraterm.
Maybe pico hangs up.... power supply insufficient rating.

"Firewall or router blocking port 23?"

That's what I was thinking...
After a few hours of trying everything I could find on the web (in W11, firewall and my router) I decided to reset the WebMite options and have it connect to my main Wifi network.

I tried connecting through telnet again but got another error message: connection refused.
Went through another few hours of trying settings in W11, firewall and my router with no success.

I was just about to give up when it hit me like a freight train, I forgot to re-enable the option telnet console after resetting the webmite options...

Well, it works now.

It is normal design to have the guest network isolated from the 'main' network.

With some routers, you can use port forwarding to the pico on the guest network and then connect from your PC to your external IP.
I would NOT advise exposing a pico to the big bad world.
