I bet it's a pretty expensive kit - unless you have to 3D print everything, in which case it's even more expensive if you haven't already got a 3D printer. :)

It depends on the "model"  

The parts for the basic robot cost (in Germany) approx. 40-50 EUR; less, if you get a good deal for the servos and don't use fancy parts such as ball bearings. Parts like displays, ToF distance sensors and the CO2 sensor can be expensive - like with many electronic parts, this currently changes frequently depending on availability.

Of course, if you don't have a 3D printer, there'll be extra costs. But if you have access to a printer; the costs for the material are small.

That's very good. I got a 18 servo 6 leg walker but never got it working with battery and gcb and not picomite. I got a 3d printer so may try but looks ploddy. 3 feet down for support then 3 feet for new position

Thanks - well, the fewer motors, the ploddier (is that a word?).
I find that 12 servos is a compromise:

But for this one I used MicroPython. One may be able to port it to MMBasic but since this is a Pico board with additional hardware, it would probably not straight forward.

I never got mine to walk... just move it's legs. I will revisit the project using mmbasic.
