Hehe cool! Yep, it is from a Blackberry mobile phone. One can get those bare keypads for about 2€ and build it around an own microcontroller. This already presoldered board is a bit pricy for me. But a great idea for a small on the go device indeed. Greetings Daniel |

If I'm not mistaken you are missing the point, and Peter is being coy, that is a mini I2C keyboard connected at the firmware console level to a PicoMite, he has just created a hand-held boot to MMBasic device. I believe you are correct, Tom. OPTION KEYBOARD I2C is nice! :) And a 4" SSD1963 parallel LCD. Edited 2023-03-31 07:13 by Mixtel90 Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

If only it was possible to do that with the Psion 3 or 5 keyboard and screen, much nicer keyboard & probably quite doable to remove the old pcb and replace with a PicoMite so you end up with a battery powered clam shell portable MMBasic computer! ;-) Regards Kevin. You'd have to make it I2C or PS2 first - especially with a parallel display as there's not enough IO left to scan one. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

I had a 3a and lusted after a 5{mx}, beautiful machines - development of portable computers should have stopped there. Unfortunately the hinges weren't built to last . Best wishes, Tom Game*Mite, CMM2 Welcome Tape, Creaky old text adventures |

So true... :( They were remarkably weak for quite an expensive device. The 5MX was gorgeous! Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

I found this online at RobotShop. I will get a chance to try it in a couple days after the Easter Meal in over. Is cheap and I2C so , what the heck. Worth a try. |

I have two of these M5Stack i2c keyboards in my stash too. The keys are just tac switches so pretty nasty to use. Obviously it would be great if the PicoMite supported them, it would save me having to try to do it myself when the time comes, but after a quick Google I believe this product may be end-of-life. It gets even smaller :-) I found this: https://hackaday.io/project/178204-the-smallest-keyboard But the buttons used are just too expensive. Unit price about 1€. But I think the idea is interesting. Matthias |

Can someone please link me to one of these? It would be PERFECT for my next project, but nowhere on this thread, is there a link to this thing... Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Just received 460 tact switches in a box which wasn't crushed and broken which is the norm with Banggood. https://uk.banggood.com/460PCS-Tact-Switch-Push-Button-Switch-Micro-Switch-For-Car-Remot-or-TV-or-Toys-or-Home-Use-Button-Caps-Kit-p-1973870.html?cur_warehouse=CN&rmmds=search Edited 2023-09-11 19:30 by barewires |
