It never ceases to amaze me, how cheap storage keeps getting. Now, 512GB is not that much these days, and SATA on M.2 is lower-spec then NVMe drives in M.2, but..... In my case, I am rebuilding my FM radio station computer, and elected to use a mini-PC with an M.2 slot, and install the OS and all the music to one small M.2 card. Sixty Buck 512GB M.2 SSD... NZ$61.30, or US$37.58 in yank dollars. This SSD is an underperformer, generally speaking, but for the purposes of what I wanted - a system running ONLY Windoze 8.1 Pro, the player software(Zara Radio), and an audio processing engine(Breakaway Audio Enhancer) - this thing is perfect. Certainly not the best performer in the world, but for the price, I can install the system and all the music on the one small M.2 stick. ....all for sixty bucks new. Pretty amazing, even if this drive is a bit slow by modern M.2 standards.(speed is not required for music playback) Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

That is a SATA Drive and VERY SLOW. NVME PCI are much faster(3000 to 7000 instead of 600) If you have NVMe PCI use it. The WD drive is 4000 for $35 https://www.amazon.com/WD_BLACK-250GB-SN770-Internal-Gaming/dp/B09QVP977F/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=24EC4G0M4X28U&keywords=nvme+ssd+500gb&qid=1678722979&sprefix=nvme+ssd+%2Caps%2C114&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRDk3MllTUE1OTVEwJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDAyMjk3RUIxVDVEUUdLVDhXJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA5OTY0OTlDWDJVNU4zTlVWWUMmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl |

@ mclout999 - Yes, I know it is slow and SATA on M.2 and not NVMe - see my orignal post where I mention that myself. I'm not interested in lightning speed, as this machine is just a music player for my FM radio station. Reading music data files can be done with the slowest of the slow drives without any issue.
