i am running xp service pack2 as soon as i run bootloader it comes up with cannt enable device ...is my windows too old ..i only have dial up and am trying to up grade from 2point one to 2 point 4....regards and thanks to all who reply

Sparkey, do you have the Maximite connected when you run bootloader, and is the power led flashing? I haven't tried XP, but its supposed to work. you have to have the maximite connected after powering it on with the firmware button pressed. the power led should be flashing. If the power led isn't flashing, its not in firmware upgrade mode and I wouldn't expect bootloader.exe to recognise the Maximite.

Hi Sparkey, I upgraded mine from 2.1 to 2.4 under XP. first i connected the device and loaded the silicon chip drivers. Then powered down maximite and powered up whilst holding the boot loader button, power led commenced flashing. ran bootloader and all worked fine.

Thats a good point, have you installed the Silicon Chip drivers before you started. Make sure that you can connect to it using putty or some similar program before you try to do the upgrade.

Guys,

you don't need the silicon chip drivers to *program* the Maximite.

What you *do* need is Microsoft's .NET Framework V2 or later.

I always program my Maximite on my laptop which has .NET, but no Silicon Chip drivers. Those drivers are only used to provide serial over USB support, to allow a terminal programme to talk to the Maximite when it is running normally.

On dial up thats going to take ages to download.....

thaks guys i will go down to the net cafe and take a 2 gig usb stick would this be sufficent .....

For those that don't know, this is right on the edge of the Tullamarine International Airport in Australia. You will be able to hear and see the planes from there.

I don't mean to criticize this at all, as I'm sure you have your reasons, but you are still running dial-up?

When you said dial-up, I thought you must have been in the bush somewhere.

the application configureation is not correct this is the error message i get ...no i have not got the net upgrade yet..thanks ....

i got xp sp3 and still cannot get this thing flashed i changed the hdd fresh clean and install xp and still the same problem....any answers app thasnks...

what version of .Net framework does XP SP3 include? I'm not sure, but I think it still needs downloading. I dont think it is included in SP3.
