Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Happy to contribute, but I only saw that image once, now it is gone!
I suspect Gizmo is playing with the forum code, so I will check this again tomorrow.

I have always been pretty dismissive of chatGPT.
Perhaps I was wrong.

  robert.rozee said  hi Glenn,
just tried to donate, using the PayPal option, but the message came up from PayPal saying "Donations to this recipient aren't supported in this country". i am in NZ.

cheers,

Yeah, same here.

Something for Glenn to play with.

Perhaps PayPal does not want us Kiwi's, donating to our Aussie chums!

Tried to donate, but I just get this (not clickable).

Did a force refresh of the webpage (Ctrl-F5) and then I got the image (and could click it). So there's something occasionally messed up with the link.

Yes, I have seen that too, and it seems to pop in and out, each time you go to a different forum page.  I expect Gizmo is still working on this new feature, so I'd give it a few more daze or a week or so, and as Gizmo sorts it out, I think it will settle down.

Not sure, but I think he's cycling the donate link with the 'future news feed' message.
Probably cuts down on the impression of 'begging/asking/reminding/nagging' to buy him a coffee.
Just be patient and it will pop-up on the screen again in it's own time

I'm just itching to see the news feed

Yeah its on a rotation. There are currently 20 300*300 pixel cells, my donate button is in two of them.

I've started to add a few random links, but open to suggestions for more cells. Basically any resource that would be useful, plus if any forum members want to link to their commercial page thats fine as well, all free. The cells are only seen by forum members. Non members see the google ads.

Big thankyou to those who have donated. Used the funds to pay for hosting plus bought a couple tools for the workshop. A cheapie hot air reflow thingy and a little multimeter, will post pictures when they arrive. I'll make a point of using the funds for the site and workshop projects.

If for some reason you cant use the donate button, that's cool, the thought was there and I appreciate it.

Hi Gizmo

Much better thanks.

Any chance of when clicking on the cells/ adverts, that a new webpage is opened, leaving TBS page intact.

Thanks again

Hi Brian

Yeah thats a oversight of mine if its not working that way. Like you I prefer a new window or tab, leaving the old one to go back to.

In most browsers if you right-click on a link or add that contains a link you can choose "Open in a new Tab" or similar.
That should do what you want.

I'm still being refused by PayPal - donations not supported to this country or something similar in wording.  Glenn - do you have any idea why that would be?

I did remember that after I posted.
Just got to remember to actually right click when selecting it. Not really a great issue.

Brian

Just tried it with the Donate one. Just brings up the graphic in a new tab. Maybe because I have already donated.

Maybe send Glenn a msg and ask for the email address he uses for PayPal and send directly using the PayPal site.

Regards,

Mick
