Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

b10 is a completely normal release. The only change from the fixed b9 is support for configuring my new board. If a change needs any specific testing I will request this in the text on this thread. Your testing is really appreciated but please don't waste time on this one as the change is trivial and won't impact anything. |

sorry a downer but my use of pico 2 is it's a bit faster.. that's it. don't dismiss 2040 dropped in pico 2 to replace 2040 but not much difference really.. if it works. ili9341 ok and vga but only vga got the new colour modes. lots of hdmi and mode 3 for vga but the extra colours/resolution means lots of code don't work .. not enough memory for frame or play mod so much effort for graphics but not enough ram to do stuff. |

Pico 2 with 6.00.00.b8 Why does the USB always announce that a generic gamepad is detected whenever a keyboard is plugged in? I've just tried two other keyboards. This one is a wireless Logitech and it announces a mouse, keyboard and gamepad! That's probably because of Logitech's multi-purpose dongle. The other two keyboards are normal Chinese ones. If I add a generic controller that is added as expected. Incidentally, the direction pad on it is detected by online testers as pushing a LH analogue joystick to it's 100% limits. It's not seen as switches and I don't think it works in MMBasic. It's the usual "bone" shaped controller. (I've lost the command for reading anything but the WII controller in MMBasic. Can someone help please?) Is this right? I thought the Pico 2 only had 2MB of flash? a: ? mm.info(free space) 2600960 (Don't give up, Stan. The Pico 2 is (as far as I know) the same as the original in modes 1 and 2, just faster. You don't have to use the other modes and you don't have to be stuck with VGA now - although it's fine if you are happy with it's capabilities. Ordinary DVI (not widescreen) seems to be just as easy to use as VGA, it's just that it costs you two pins.) . Pico2 has 4MB You seem to have a strange controller - bin it . My one has all buttons as digital and reported by the DEVICE(GAMEPAD n,B) function. Lots of keyboards seem to report multiple USB devices. The firmware treats unrecognized devices as a gamepad as there is no standard code for these. Just ignore them. |

It *looks* like that but has no indent. It is obviously different inside. I have 2 of them and they both work identically! Buyer beware.... Thanks Peter. :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

Personally I think we have too few data-points, I suspect the number of people running the USB firmware + having a "generic" controller could be counted on James Doohan's right hand. And, even though I do have a RP2040 based USB board it's just low priority to update it's firmware and give it a poke. Best to let things settle for a while IMO. EDIT: The "indent" is presumably there so vendors can add their own badge. The photo Peter posted looks absolutely identical to one that I have with a PiHut badge glued in that spot. Thanks, I'll sort one out for you. It might be useful if they could be read because we don't know what vendors (apart from that PiHut one) are selling. They are generally sold as "Super SNES USB game controller", but that may cover a multitude of sins as a lot of systems can map the controls.
