Why put an inferior BASIC onto a CMM2?  ;)

No. AFAIK you couldn't do it *with* the ROMS either.

What are you actually trying to achieve @RicM, do you specifically want Amiga Basic (presumably AmigaBASIC) running on the CMM2 (I can confidently say "not a chance"), or do you have a particular Amiga Basic program that could be ported to MMBasic in order to run on the CMM2 ?

Best wishes,

Tom

with or without the Kickstart roms ..
Amiga Software (Kick start is also a Software) is based on Motorola 680xx CPUand written for the Chipset, which is build in to the Amiga.
Without an Emulation, even modern PC cannot run Amiga Software.
SO no, it couldn't run on CMM2.
The only option would be to port/translate the Amiga Basic program to MM Basic. And even that requires comprehensive knowledge of both systems

For certain purposes , Amiga Basic was far
ahead of MMBasic . Musical ability for sure .....
( though that ability may have depended on the
Paula chip )

The best way to get AmigaBasic to run on the cheap, and without the Kickstarter ROMs is probably to run ARM port of AROS Research Operating System on a Raspberry Pi or the X86 version on a PC. This is legal as the ROMs aren't involved. I've only found this through research, I've not tried it.

A different Basic doesn't replace the Hardware, it is running on, so the CMM2 doesn'tget a PAULA Chip by installing a Software

Best for you RicM is just to emulate the A500.
You can do it with the Teensy 4.1 , it work very well ;)
And if you like other 'old' basic you can emulate couple of other 'old' computer too on the same board.

Practice is when everything work but no one know why ;)

Slightly off topic - but did you ever try AMOS?

I used to love Amiga BASIC back in the day, however it was very slow (despite running on a beast of a computer for the era). I quickly moved on to AMOS - a third party Amiga BASIC.

The publisher is still around and has a Windows based Dev environment (AOZ Studio) that can actually compile for the Amiga (or so I believe - I've never tried doing that).

It might be interesting if you are dabbling with an Amiga emulator.
