Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Eric Badger designed the Badger6502Pico last year, and recently expanded it to include SD card storage and GPIO access. The original was covered on www.Hackaday.com in 2022 and he posted a video on the updated version a few days ago on  www.atariage.com. His new video https://youtu.be/umDmZJTn25A

Eric also posted BadgerFrotz on GitHub last year to run text adventures on his device. This program looks a lot like Saaint. https://github.com/ebadger/BadgerFrotz

You Tube link does not work for me - complains about an error in the HTTP.
Can anyone else open the video link?

Oh.... memory-mapped IO, how quaint! Even the Z80 didn't need to do that.
(Mick reignites the flame wars. ;) )

That's very nice indeed, even though I have no love whatsoever for the Commodore machines. RJ45 as an expansion/GPIO bus is interesting. That's an idea I might pinch at some point.

Neat.

Writing Lode Runner  for the 'mites is one of my backburner plans.

Actually Frotz is a Z-Machine interpreter so more akin to Z-MIM than SAAINT. Of course he's also running closer to the metal so much faster than my work.

Best wishes,

Tom

It's a bit of a pandora box / swiss army knife

- an Apple 2 clone (or is it Apple I, since you start Basic from WOZMON) with 7 I/O pins to play with.

- LodeRunner as a feature game embedded, runs identical to the apple version (6502 emulation)

- a C64 disk drive (peripheral) but you need monitor keybord to make it start

- a Atari disk drive (peripheral) but you need monitor keybord to make it start

Nice hobby project...

I exchanged a few messages with Eric. He’s still deciding on whether to offer a kit and/or fully assembled unit for sale,  price, etc. I get the impression he’s still a few weeks away from making a decision - this is a hobby for him. As you can see in the video, the Commodore file server is still a work in progress while the Atari 8 bit file server is working better. He was asking if I wanted to contribute to the project. Feel free to contact him directly or message him thru the Atariage.com forum, which he recently joined.
