6551 UART

All Ben's videos are getting right down to the nitty-gritty of digital logic.
We don't know how lucky we are with the MM series of chips that do all this stuff for us automatically in the background.
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

Ah....  happy memories...  :)
We had the 6402 UART on the Nascom IIRC. Similar idea but with 40 pins.

And I have been patiently waiting for the 6551 part of the series for nearly 2 years while Ben was on hiatus.  Glad to see him back.

The 6402's are a much more "mature" (translated: complicated but more capable) UART by comparison.
