Another possibility is high pressure waterjet cutting. Too expensive for the hobbyist, but you may very well find a shop nearby that has one. I live near Ventura, California, and there's a great little shop that mostly uses theirs to cut huge thick plate steel components for the Navy, but takes on tiny little jobs for hobbyists as well. I've had them cut 5mm aircraft plywood; it comes back to me wet, but dries out in a day or so. High pressure waterjet can cut anything. They can even have it cut bevels, as long as it's a straight shot between the nozzle and the receiver. Live in the Future. It's Just Starting Now! |

Just a little update to this - I see that JLCPCB now offer various forms of professional 3D printing that you just can't do at hobbyist level. Has anyone here used their 3D printing process, and can you report on the end result and if you were happy with it? I am thinking of perhaps designing my wall-plates with the holes etc as part of the 3D print, cos the example photos of some of their advanced processes look really good - WAY better then any 3D printer from a retail shop, so that is making me rethink the 3D idea a bit more, if I can get affordable commercial-quality prints. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
