I have restarted this project, so this is just a little teaser thread.

Testing the sheave drive:



12v 19RPM geared motor, driven by PWM from a WS Zero module running MMBASIC(for the PICO), and a BTS7960 based H-bridge motor driver module.

Guide-rails.  I only plan to use two of these.
The "Slide-block" is ball-bearing based, and slides along the rails.
I will be using two slide-blocks - one for the cabin, and one for the counter-weight, and aligning all four rails into two 1M high rails for the cabin and the counter-weight respectively.



Elevator "Ropes".
Using 4mm textured green CNC machine silicone 'round-belts'



Roller-lever mini-microswitches.  Two per 'Floor'.  They tell the controller when the cabin is in the correct position relative to any one floor.  They also act as slow-down sensor switched to slow the speed of the cabin in either direction one one of them is closed.  THIS IS A CONCEPT IN PROGRESS.  Please be kind.  Elevators might perhaps use a 3rd switch in the middle of both of those as a slow-down trip, but I don't know and am doing ALL of this TOTALLY from what I THINK the controller should be doing, so......there is a bit of work to do here.



Driveshaft and coupler to the sheave motor thing



Bearings for both sides of the driveshaft off the sheave at the top of the shaft



Hoist/counter-weight cable lugs/anchors/fixings.  Utilux standard electrical crimp connectors to suit the OD of the CNC "Cables"



Hoist/sheave pully wheels - two of these back-to-back - a four-rope elevator concept to give more traction more then anything else - just like the real thing.

Regs state that ONE rope must be able to take the weight of a loaded cabin, but more ropes equals more traction......



Provision for two-door opening/closing things.
No provision for any kind of MODELLED emergency braking system at this stage, as I just want to model the operation.

Just a wee teaser thread - there is A LOT to do yet before I have anything operational even on the programmed level.

Nice,  will be watching with interest, I got hold of some jgy 370 motor's for my model railway gear etc.

I would love to make it like this, but I don't know that I have that much time for so much detail!

When you get around to the detail of the operation, with two cars, how to determine which should respond? (it's not just first one to place a call).

Sorry to disappoint you Andrew, but it is only going to be ONE car + one counterweight.

The four rails and multiple slide-blocks might have confused the issue.

Playing about today, has revealed that the slide-blocks DO NOT want to slide from one rail to the other.  As soon as they hit the 2nd rail laid up against the end of the 1st one, they simply stop.  I was planning to make two 1M rails out of four 500mm rails, by stacking them, but the slide-blocks do not want to co-operate, so I have simply ordered two 1M lengths of rail to save my sanity in that area.
