High all! I first visited this site about 6 months ago looking for a circuit to drive a fisher&paykel motor on a battery and then got caught up in making wind mills with my father-in-law. Now I would like to use a F&P motor to power something other than a washing machine. The motor resembles the brushless dc motor that they use in the electric push bike but electronics are needed can any one help? |

Thanks for posting that link Karl, good to see someone's got a F&P to work well as a motor. I was part of a solar challenge team years ago and we used a F&P as the motor at first. The mistake we made was to replace the plastic F&P hub with a aluminium hub fitted with rare earth magnets. The stronger magnets created a lot of back EMF, and we couldn't get a controller to work reliably. We ran out of time and had to go for a DC motor and chain drive. Been thinking about this sort of thing myself but with a slightly different slant, the front free wheeling hubs could be converted to drive a couple of F&P genny's. I'd like your thoughts on that, plus a bigger shed to do things in. Cheers Barry I need to learn from the mistakes of others. I dont have the time to make them all myself. |
