Trev Fibreglass I suspect dem UNI kids been surfin' da interweb again !! Its a good unit for probably a large percentage of people and applications. In fact I could use one for round town rather than burning fuel. Nice to see the use of both LiOn cells & AC motor. That coupled with fibreglass tub body and custom blown top (rather than a piece of flat boring glass). Its this kind of technology that will move us back to EV's. Yes I said back - look it up, EV's pre-date dino clangers. New York had thousands of EV trucks alone delivering everything from mail to fresh food. The wealthy had EV cars. I wonder if they used the Thundersky LiOn or if the I.T. Department is missing a LOT of laptop batteries... sPuDd.. It should work ...in theory |

Yes fully aware that EV's are not new. They were in fact around before petrol cars. Have a look at this. She would not have one of Henry's cars, dirty smelly things that you had to crank the handle and hope that things went right. Trev @ drivebynature.com |

I have seen the uni SA electric car several times. It appears a neat unit it has a top speed of over 100Km/hr and a range of about 120Km at 90Km/hr. As I understand the car has competed the solar challenge (Darwin to Adelaide) several times. Presently there is a South African company investigating manufacturing them. Crash testing a new car so it can be registered is very expensive so the chance of the concept being commercialised is small. But it does prove that it is possible to build a practical electric car with current technology. |
