Completely off topic but I'm quite pleased with myself so I hope no-one objects to me sharing.

It is my father's 90th birthday in July - but what do you buy for someone who is 90? I know I'll make something

Built from Clock 22 plans available online. To get an idea of size the dial bezel has an outside diameter of about 11".

Gorgeous - wonder how accurate it is? Not that that matters probably.

In theory it should be very accurate - the designer quotes 12 seconds a day for his prototype.

The clever bit to get this accuracy is the Armfield gravity escapement designed in 1987 as interpreted by Brian Law. This decouples the unlatching of the escapement from the pendulum so the variability in unlatching force does not impact accuracy which is the issue with most escapements.

Moved to Other Stuff.

Nice work. A wood clock is on my to do list, I have a CNC table and the other tools needed so its really just a case of finding a design I like and starting the project.

Be interesting to see how the exposed gears wear over time. Where I live is open dry farmland, very dusty.
