Ref; Solar Aircraft,
This link may have expired or is very busy, I tried a link from BBC News and Still no connect.
I watched the landing at midnight in Phoenix and heard the pilot comment on highlights of the flight.
The plane preformed without a fault.

The flight path went south from San Francisco following the central valley to Bakersfield, then East to Mohave where Burt Rutan Built the White Knight and Space ship I.

a few miles south is Edwards Air force Base where Aviation History was made many times over, including the first supersonic flight (Chuck Yeager's) Bell X1.

The ATC's at Edwards were happy to have something new in the sky. Of course the
clearance had already been arranged.

An Airline Pilot near phoenix asked the Traffic Control center why he was asked to hold and circle?
Traffic Control replied, Think of it this way, Try flying an electric car.

Looks good, interesting if it will become popular and inexpensive, or at least on par with traditional way of air travel?

Only if you can fly and dont mind sending your luggage by sea, as the piolts had to take turns because it could only carry one person, an ultralight is over 100 times smaller and can carry more cargo.

Nice experiment but the cost would make it useless for its payload ability, and thats not even considering the huge resources required to construct it.

I think the guy on the bike in the video was the real winner here. (about the same payload too)
Sometimes it just works
