Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
Im sure i have a female TV, it goes on the blink without warning and chooses when it works and when it goes on strike.
Its a Shaub Lorenz LCD TV that doubles as my computer screen, at 4 weeks from new it was in for a 8 week wait on warranty repairs, then 2 years later and about 2 years after that again, now i had decided to repair it myself, that way i should know what fails and can fix it quicker than in 8 weeks.
Here several months back it decided to take a holiday (the TV) and refuse to work, it just kept cycling the On/Off led, red, blue, red, blue..........repair time ......... so after 10 zillion screws to remove the back cover and 1 zillion screws to remove the sheet metal shrouds, i accessed the power supply board.
Knowing from previous repairs it was a power supply cap problem (well other then the first repair that required a new main board replacement that was shipped from France)
Ok...so this time i changed 2 x 470uf, 16v, 105C caps on the power supply board and it all worked fine again, while doing surgery on the power board i had noticed 2 x 680uf caps slightly bulged on their tops, but i had no replacements handy at the time.
A month passed and all worked fine, then it ("it" is a new word for TV) threw a hissy fit and refused to work on the IR remote (lets face it in today' era if the remote dont work you shoot it, and place it out for council rubbish) With turning the power off for a minute and back on it would work on the remote for a few minutes, then refuse to listen to any IR command i used, even verbal abuse made no difference.
Well! it has been faithful for many years in between its need for a little time in Rehab every so often, so i again removed the 11 zillion screws and replaced the 680uf caps that was bulged, and again it worked without a problem.
Then over the past couple of weeks it has developed a rash of a graph pad view on the screen with dotted green lines vertical and horizontal, and again only when it when it feels like it, and refuses any remote commands while the allergic reaction is present.
Yesterday being very hot it came out in more spots then a TV with chicken spots, it became almost not viewable, so again i removed the 22 zillion screws to access the power board, then armed myself with a can of component freeze, with intended to wait for the green graph chicken spots to show, then freeze each power cap to see if i could locate the problem.
Now this is why im sure its a female TV ( other than the odd need for a visit to rehab, or some personal time of fiddling with its moods and other bits)
I powered it up backless (back all exposed) and waited for the green chicken spots, and waited, and waited, and its been 2 days that have now passed without a glitch................Hmmm Bugger!!!!!
Im sure its female and just wanted a change ??? and it thinks going backless is the in way to go!!
All i can say sweet heart, is next time you throw a hissy fit im ready to freeze your bits. ( i bet she is reading this as i type ........ So be WARNED, precious!)
But hell, if she wants new set of high heels, then she is council trash fore sure!! ( Pssst do you hear me......precious!!!.)
Pete.

She will get a kick in her EURO-SCART connector if she is not careful and misbehaves.
Then we will see if her RGB shows her true colours.
Darn TV's are too smart for their own good now days.

Hell that would be tempting the devil within, i dare not look at porn either as these would surly pop her fuse, and vent smoke from her love handles.
As for the silicon implants .... well she is a little flat screened for a big girl. Sometimes it just works

Pete, you are a *very* patient man, if "it" was mine it'll have been at the verge collection long ago .
Did you say "it" was made in France? .Klaus

Im not sure where "it" was made, but replacements were sent from France, perhaps i need to swear at "it" in French, because sure as hell "it" dont listen to any other language i have tried.
"It" might be because of "its" origin that "it" works better with a screw loose or missing a screw ( hope i got that around the right way)
Next time i think i might like a Swedish model, perhaps them ones come with their buttons on the front. (now that might be fun with the freeze spray )
"It" has been good of late while "it" has "its" bra straps showing to the world, although i did threaten to replace "it" with a Chinese virgin earlier today, should "it" misses not behave.

yeah the model with the 2 buttoms pointing up to the ceiling on the front of the set would be the way to go and if there not pointing out enough to play with them that component freeze should sort it out quickly.when i said reruns of babe watch maybe i should have said reruns of baywatch, plenty of sillycone on that show and best watched when their running in slow motion

Pete,
Sounds like a women all right, they do get a bit hot if you don’t play with the little bit once in a while and stop working.
Was at our local land fill the other day and there are hundreds of them there too. I think every person in town got a new “IT” for Christmas. I should tell the wife that...

Just an update on "she"
Since armed with a can of nipple freeze spray handy, and the removal of the back covers, along with the pre warning of council trash should "it" have a hissy fit and malfunction again, for several weeks now "she" has not failed in any way, a pure faultless operation.
It might be time to start putting the clothes/covers back on her.

Hi Pete
While you leave the back off it will work OK due to better ventilation as soon as you put it back together same again, if you want to find whats wrong use your heat gun on each board to warm it up and then the freeze to find the faulty bit.
