Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I saw the hydrocat thing on Utube. Went to the site and couldn't find any info on it. Thinkin about making something like it as it could be the answer to a few problems I'm facing but I'm skeptical of it's generating potential.

Not going through all that work to light one LED intermittently.

Thanks.

I did a quick search on youtube. It looks like a floating undershot waterwheel. It would work, but dont expect much power. The one I saw looked like it had a water intake about 1 meter wide. Without doing the maths, I would expect no more than 10 to 20 watts max. At the end of the video they said they had models ranging from 1kw to 300kw, so I can only assume the one shown in the video is a small scalled down model.

Wikipedia have a good page on waterwheels http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterwheel

Also, google for "Water wheel calculations".

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now.
