Hi, Wanted to load Win 2000 onto a PC (minus disk and OS)a friend gave me and for some stupid reason (old age, stupidity, drunken haze?) I loaded DOS 98 on via floppy; perhaps Win 2000 did not like a 1 TB HD OEM internal SATA. Anyway, I suspect I messed up the master boot record as it fixed the HD most likely as a FAT16 disk. Loaded Knoppix on and deleted the partition first, then the partition table via FDISK, but no luck. The BIOS still reports a 1 TB HD, Knoppix reports an unallocated space of 128 GB or so and a free space (not accessible) for the rest. Do you know of any piece of software which allows me to fix my silly mistake?? Was not too bad a mistake as the 1 TB HD cost me $62, but still. Thanks. Hi, You are sure that Win2000 is able to work with 1TB partitions? You have the most recent version of Linuc Knoppix? You tried to erase all partitions using Knoppix and create new ones to see the reported size? You used FDISK from DOS/Win98 or Win2000? Use only the tools from Knoppix to make all partitions. Win2k doesn't natively support dives over 137G. I had the same problem recently trying to install a 500G drive into a Win2k Server.
