Hi Guy's, I found this ebay store looking for bargin ballscrews for my cnc I'm building and eh I don't think you'll find any cheap than the prices they have them for. The message I got back of the seller is they don't have many left so I got straight on and ordered one each 650mm and 850mm while they are still there. I did notice on those 2 there was under 10 left with both so if you guys want cheap ballscrews jump on them asap. Cheers Bryan |

G'day Guys, The ball screws turned up today and they do look the goods and I must say for service this ebay seller is great. Both ball screws were packaged well so they came with no damage and with the ends pre machined it's just a case of making a coupling, making a mount for the nut then mounting them on the cnc. Hopefully I will get some time this weekend to work on the cnc and I'll take a few pic's. Cheers Bryan |

Keep us posted Bryan. I've been needing my CNC the last couple of weeks, it was a handy tool. I want to rebuild it anyway, using a chain drive the the X and Y. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Hi Glenn, Have you considered making a small one for PCB? Vasi Hobbit name: Togo Toadfoot of Frogmorton Elvish name: Mablung Miriel Beyound Arduino Lang |

Hi Vasi Well the big one could do PCB's OK, so I'm thinking if using the same gantry, with a short bed, converted to chain drive. X becomes Y and Y becomes X. A 500*500 work area would be nice, I think it was 500*1000. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

G'day Guy's, Well it took longer than I thought but I got the X-axis installed and going and man is it sweet. working on a 18 volt input for the stepper I found 700mm/min worked great with no missed steps but 1000mm/min did make the stepper jump and miss a few steps over the full table range. I put my digi height gauge on for testing accuracy and found it was purfect over the full range of the gauge. Next I put my 0.0001" dial gauge on to test for backlash and none was found. The X-axis length is 675mm which will do nicely for this small cnc. Once I get this cnc finished and get G-code and autocad down pat I'll make a start on the big cnc for blade carving. For the big cnc I'll be aiming for 2.5 metres by 1.5 metres with a 500mm Z-axis. I did score some huge steppers for it but as the ball screws for the lengths I want are pricey it will be a while before I make it. To say I'm wrapped with these ball screws are an understatement and I would prefer them over a chain drive anyday, but I might have too at a chain drive as ball screws for the big will be over 2K to buy. Once I get all 3 axis's going I'll take a heap of pic's and show you guys my homemade cnc from scratch. This project is over 3 years in the making and once finished I'll be one happy guy. Cheers Bryan |
