OK, this has nothing to do with RE or windmills or solar or electronics or anything related to this site. But it is part of me and who I am. I've had this old girl for almost 25 years. I bought it from my father, who bought it new in 1973. I still remember the first time I saw it, I was almost 8 years old at the time. For those who dont know ( shame on you ), its a Holden HQ Monaro. The motor is a 350 Chev ( 5.7 litre ) V8, that I rebuilt in the early 90's. In its day it was pretty fast, scared the poop out of me a few times. These are worth a fair bit now, but I would never sell it. It's been sitting in the shed for the last 4 years, since I moved in. The cat sleeps on it. I'm packing up ready to move house later this year, so I needed to fire her up( the car, not the cat ) and get her mobile again. Was a lot easier that I thought. A couple of new radiator hoses, a little fuel down the carbie and a charged battery later, she was running and out in the yard. And after a bath. There's a video of her running at youtube if anyone is interrested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSurVvgU8LA Non RE posting finished Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. Glen; I found a short history on the Holden Monaro, Interesting how the GM body styles and equipment were interchanged over the different year models. (Meaning US models),Pontiac GTO, Chevy NOVA, Chev CHEVELLE, MALIBU and others But of course many models were made form the same mold. The GTS you have is a performance model that was offered only a short time. most had the 307 Cu. In. or a 6 cylinder Engine. Nice Car. More about the Holden Time has proven that I am blind to the Obvious, some of the above may be True? |

HQ 1 ton worked 253 Built for Gas Dome top Pistons scorcha ignition Graphed for Gas Biggest GAS cam I could find 5 speed supra box *Note to self 1. Make it thick 2.Make it heavy. 3.Make it stronger than it should be. 4. Don't rush the first job as the second job will cost more and take mor |

Gizmo, I love it. Not many on this side of the pond know about Holden. They did pretty good work on the newer GTO's too. You've kept good care of it. Never sell, it's a part of you now. Here is my old toy. 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 440 cu-in engine. Gets about 5 miles to the gallon and it is the least energy efficient thing I own. |

Wow Perry! The American muscle cars are very popular over here. Yeah I dont think I could ever sell mine. The old HQ is a bugger of a thing to drive around town. Heavy steering and terrible fuel consumption. But out on the open highway it comes alive, nothing like it. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. :D A modern monster with old look. I'm a fan of American Chopper TV show but I can not stop thinking about what they will do when fuel crisis will become acute. They built a nice business, a pity that so late (or so close to the crisis) Vasi Hobbit name: Togo Toadfoot of Frogmorton Elvish name: Mablung Miriel Beyound Arduino Lang |
